Each state has its own areas where more educated people live/work, but that doesn't mean automatically that everyone in Texas is a dunce (I hear they have a pretty nice medical school there...) nor that everyone in Washington, D.C. has a degree in humanities from Georgetown or Harvard.
There are different kinds of intelligence. Some people are extremely intelligent without having picked up a book or studying at a college for a degree, while others are better with the "theory" side of things and are more comfortable with book smarts.
Exactly. Where are most of the colleges? In big cities on the East and West coast. Who attends those colleges? People from across the country. However, education and intelligence are not the same thing. I've known morons who have college degrees and brilliant people who only graduated from high school.
This thread is simply more Liberal ego-stroking and shallow red state bashing. Here's a great article which examines the 1 point IQ difference between red and blue states i.e. east/west coast vs. flyover country.
I'd say the Northwest, and a close second is the Northeast. I live in the Midwest, and there are some very dumb people in these parts. And I've been in the Southeast before, to include Texas, and alot of the people I've met there make people around here look smart.
Why do you feel the need to go here? You really should have titled this thread "The South is where the dumb people are"
Never mind that this Bostonian knows of at least 4 people from here who now live in the South. I suppose they are now dumb as well?
The north east has the most intelligent states and not surprisingly the south the lowest.
It is really how you define intelligent. I live in the NE, have 3 collee degrees. However, people here are not smarter in my opinion. I would trade 2 employees from Harvard for a good SEC/ACC school. My experiences to date, educated on social casues, not so educated in business savy...
Usually in the more the affluent areas of a state. In my case, the suburbs.
Even though I live in a largely affluent state (NJ) not many are clamoring to move into the highly populated urban areas and raise their kids.
