the Russians are right and they gave some pretty good advice and speak from experiece.

Don't forget about the piles of rare earth elements found in afghan. We are going "green" here in the USofA and only one mine gets that stuff and it's been offline since it was shut down in 2004 I think it was by the enviro's. They're trying to get it back in gear. China is hoarding theirs. Gotta get the goods for those car batteries, ipods, windmills etc. from somewhere. This is our "green" war it appears.

Soviet WarMachine - YouTube
man we could of used 530,000 soviet troops and that airdrop was pretty awsome.
now in modren post cold war times having the Soviet forces come to help out NATO/US/ISAF in 2006 when the US troop surge for Iraq was taking place they could of kept the pressure on in afghanistan..

The main reason there are more deaths there is because of the pansy assed ROE's that the Obama administration told them to enforce... Like NOT shooting back!

Exhibit A - Afghanistan

Casualties under Bush from 2001-2008 - 630
Casualties under Obama from 2009 - present - 1122

There is just not the same media scrutiny and attention as there was under the predecessor.
Nothing new from "We Will Forget 9/11" camp.
