I can't help wondering what this is really all about. There's nothing special about the occasion, and certainly nothing special about yet more teleprompter-reading from obama. Is the idea just to get more attention than it deserves, or would otherwise get? Is it to cheerlead congressional dems to jump up and down every other sentence, so it looks like he has some worthwhile "ideas"? Could it be a panicky reaction to something in tomorrow's August employment report? Is it even really about jobs, or is that just an excuse for some more boasting about UBL a few days before 9/11? There's got to be more to it than meets the eye, and whatever it is has to have something to do with his reelection woes...
Oh, he did compromise and will now appear on the same day as the NFL. What a loser. If you are not going to fight then don't get out there. He needs to fire whoever put him out there like that. This really made him look W E A K.
The whole speech is going to be a re-hash of his big government spending ideas that we've all heard before. He will lecture congress the same way he lectured the US Supreme Court at the state of the union speech a couple of years ago. He must know by now that his policies are going to keep unemployment high through the next election cycle and he's looking for someone to blame. He'll pick congress as his scapegoat and try to convince the people that a lack of bipartisanship is the reason for the economy's problems, instead of his own economic policies. Maybe for bonus points he'll even blame Bush again ("I inherited this mess").
Obama is becoming a joke.. his green agenda wasted money, his Obamacare stunted job growth . His legislation chokes the job market... what else is he going to do to destroy the economy?
The only thing liberals know how to do - spend more of your money on bad ideas.

Tactics? You mean obama meant to try and upstage the GOP debate and then when he realized Boehner had a valid and serious reason why it couldn't happen on Wed, he folded like a cheap suit?

Yeah, good relationship. He didn't meet with the minority leader in the Senate for 18 months after his inauguration. He felt no need to compromise then, but now wants the GOP to compromise with him? I think not.
Compromise to the Left means giving in to your opponent's wishes.
Watching all of you conservatives jumping at a chance to criticize Obama like little kids in a schoolyard is very telling...
