I'm pretty sure UPS or FedEx delivers to rural areas.
FedEx and UPS are in the game to make money. It does not pay a truck driver and gas for 200/300 miles to deliver to Booniville, SC.
You are incorrect. There are many rural areas where FedEx and UPS will not deliver.

I sympathize with all the postal workers who could lose their jobs, but I have to say the post office brought alot of this on themselves. Like any customer service related business, if your customers aren't happy, then its just a matter of time before you go out of business.

I dread going to the post office............long lines, rude employees, paying more to ship something ground than some services cost to ship 2 day air, slow delivery times, etc.

I received a letter from the Texas unemployment office, enclosed was a letter with a deadline....the day I received the letter.....I looked at when it was sent, 3 weeks earlier. And that is just ONE occasion.

No wonder they're going broke!!!

Good luck closing any post offices in certain districts that congress critters hold any clout. They will ensure they stay open no matter how much it costs us.

Maybe deliver postage mail only 3 days-a-week instead of 6 days-a-week?

Why not just take the obvious step of raising rates?

I use the post office for absolutely nothing. I don't use snail mail and all my packages go via UPS or FedEx. Will the country-side/sticks/bush be able to get their mail/parcels? I don't know. But, rest assured - when money is involved, business finds a way.
