I wonder what focus grouped, Madison Avenue tested slogan they'll slurp up this time? Last time, Obama ran on slogans because he had no record. This time he'll have to run on slogans (and character assassination) because he has one.

It's a fact that Republicans have been more obstructionist over the last few years than any time in US history.
Some ideas cry out for obstruction. Thank ObamaLosi for giving us so many policies needing obstruction.

How can you Republicans expect to win the Presidency with such a dismal record going on 11 straight years now? Your candidates sound unqualified, extraordinarily simplistic, without substance, and idiotic.

I see the comeback posts say Obama is radical and bcs his middle name is Hussein

Corporations are turning America into a 3rd world country with no jobs.

Meanwhile the same tired rhetoric (guns gays and God) since 1980 isnt going to win- people see how bad things are-until the infighting stops, nothing will ever be fixed.

Reality: Economy and jobs are destroyed in this country- what are candidates doing on this????

1. The economy was fine until the democratic congress took control

2. Since the democratic congress took control four and a half years ago, the national debt has more than doubled

3. Under the first two years of Obama (with a democratic senate and congress), unemployment is up to over 9%, the national debt increased from $8.5 trillion to projected $16 trillion when Obama leaves office in 2013, and the economy is in the tank.

You had better hope, for the fiscal sake of the nation, that Obama and his democratic senate are removed in 2012. Why? It is our only chance at reducing corporate taxes and a balanced budget amendment. If the democrats maintain control of the white house and senate (very unlikely), there will be spending as usual and we will just be in a deeper hole.

When you get your history correct, come on back.

More Than 8.3 Million Jobs Created Since August 2003 In Longest Continuous Run Of Job Growth On Record

WASHINGTON -- Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released new jobs figures - 18,000 jobs created in December. Since August 2003, more than 8.3 million jobs have been created, with more than 1.3 million jobs created throughout 2007. Our economy has now added jobs for 52 straight months - the longest period of uninterrupted job growth on record. The unemployment rate remains low at 5 percent. The U.S. economy benefits from a solid foundation, but we cannot take economic growth for granted and economic indicators have become increasingly mixed. President Bush will continue working with Congress to address the challenges our economy faces and help facilitate long-term economic growth, job growth, and better standards of living for all Americans.

The U.S. Economy Benefits From A Solid Foundation

* Real GDP grew at a strong 4.9 percent annual rate in the third quarter of 2007. The economy has now experienced six years of uninterrupted growth, averaging 2.8 percent a year since 2001.

* Real after-tax per capita personal income has risen by 11.7 percent - an average of more than $3,550 per person - since President Bush took office.

* Over the course of this Administration, productivity growth has averaged 2.6 percent per year. This growth is well above average productivity growth in the 1990s, 1980s, and 1970s."

As you are checking the truth in the above data, look what changed in 2007.

Only a liberal would blame the repubs when the White House, The Senate and the House were ALL controlled by dems.

Why is is that the dems were able to get ObamaCare passed without a single repub vote, yet you claim "
but Republican obstructionism prevented him from solving the problems".

The country fails when the admin with the help of the dem Congress increases our deficit by $4 trillion. a 24 % increase in spending is a road to collapse.

If the dems were doing such a great job when they had complete control of Congress, why did we have one of the biggest party turnovers in American history in the last election?

It doesn't look like most Americans agree with you.

Default Can an obstructed President be labeled a failure?

I say absolutely not. The GOP is misguided here. If a President is able to implement his policies with Congressional approval, and those policies fail, only then can he be considered a failure. Bush is an example of this.

But if a President is unable to implement his plans to help the country, because of Congressional opposition for instance, and the country falters, he cannot be considered a failure. His policies weren't given a chance to work.
In fact, the failure is not the fault of the President, but the fault of his opposition. Such is the case with President Obama.

I find the GOP position here to be completely baseless, and likely to crumble under the weight of heavy opposition campaigning. Absolutely absurd.

A President -any President- has political opponents. If he fails to deliver he fails, period.
