nope, not a straw-man....in-fact every-time a problem in Europe is brought up the liberals defend, deflect or just outright ignore it.....like right now...spinning and deflecting it away by pointing out American problems...they can't seem to just acknowledge it alone..

put it this way....liberals always say how much happier it is in Europe...when pointed out that they are not all they happy over there liberals flip out and accuse you of being "ignorant" or something...now that sounds like they are claiming Europe is "trouble-free" or at least some kind of utopia....

and The OP never suggested that Europe was better or worse at anything....that is the left that does that...he was just trying state that Europe isn't all that "superior" to America the left seems to believe...

Europe seems to have a better rate of treating mental disorders than the US does.

Quote:
The United States has a higher prevalence and lower treatment rate of serious mental illness than a number of other developed countries, according to a study published in a special edition on international health care in the May/June issue of the policy journal Health Affairs.
Quote:
Treatment was also to be more strongly related to the ability to pay and less to need for care in the United States than the other countries. The study analyzed data from community surveys with more than 22,000 respondents in Canada, Chile, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. All these countries, except the United States, have universal health insurance.
Survey Finds U.S. Has High Rate Of Mental Illness, Low Rate Of Treatment Compared To Other Countries

Could the mental illness rate in the US be greatly underestimated because of the lack of access to medical care?

You would be correct.

So extravagant are the patterns of thinking, emoting, behaving and relating that characterize the liberal mind that its relentless protests and demands become understandable only as disorders of the psyche.

This accounts for the mental illness in both Europe and the US.

Apparently, mental illness is a hoax according to this group.

Quote:
Modern psychiatry is as anti-Christian, dangerous and satanic as evolution.

Christians should realize that Modern psychiatry is founded upon the "medical/ chemical model" which is opposed to the model revealed in scripture: The Moral/ spiritual Model.
Psychiatry is bogus: Mental illness, Chemical imbalances are mythical money makers!

Makes one wonder how many mentally ill people are ashamed to seek treatment.

And here I was wondering if there were a cure for conservatism.

Yanno...one man's mental illness is another's eccentricity. Learn to celebrate the differences of humanity.
Once we were a country that was proud of being a melting pot, but now....
