Question Registering to vote in new state, now they want SS#?

I sent in a new form and they now want my d.o.b. and SS#??

I find a problem with this - they did not ask for this a few years ago, we know they keep info on a database...I really dont want to fill that out. When did this change?

Maybe it has something to do with illegal aliens?

Might have something to do with it, but it'll also help keep poor people away from the polls which is good for Republicans... Lost your SS card and forgot your number? Just go down to the SSA building (assuming you have a car or a ride) and pay the $25 poll tax.

Wow, some things will just never die.. Anyone that's 18 and doesn't know their SSN probably isn't missing anything by not voting.. I would hope it has more to do with ensuring the people are actually US citizens and are actually who they claim they are.. I can see why certain people from a certain party might have a problem with that...

edit- helps to get your facts straight too.. so much for your little poll tax theory, a replacement card is 100% free.. you can also mail it, so you don't have to drive. Granted, this is technically a 39 cent "poll tax" (or whatever stamps cost now, I don't know because I haven't bought one in forever), but I'm sure they can borrow one from a neighbor if they're that hard up..

Changing changing... edit edit

Huh... I thought I had to pay money when I went to get my SS card replaced... oh well. However, to get a SS card you still need to have a driver's license or non-driver ID, which then means (if you don't have the SS card already) you'd have to have your birth certificate, which does cost 20-30 dollars to replace, so you still end up having to pay money.............

And before you say, "only an idiot who doesn't deserve to vote would ever lose both their SS card and their birth certificate," I have lost my SS card and my birth certificate myself before... you may call me an idiot but I still feel I have the right to vote. I sympathize, you know...

I guess the difference between us is where we live.. I live in a city where residency fraud is rampant and I do have an issue with foreign citizens voting in US elections...

I have an issue with out-of-staters voting in TEXAS elections and ex-pat Americans voting while non-resident citizens cannot vote.

It's about time! Every state needs to verify if someone has the legal right to vote. If anyone is worried about some poor person not being able to get their SS# they can offer their assistance to help them get the information they need.

Not if you are paying for falsified papers and those Dems want the illegals to vote.
