That you capitalized "theory" strongly suggests that you don't understand that evolution is both a fact and a theory.

To answer your question, it matters, because only an idiot thinks that evolution is "just a theory" in the sense of hypothesis, not explanation.

I would never vote for someone that stupid or uneducated.

But you'll vote for a known liar again.

It would only matter if the elected office had any say over educational or health policy.

It's really not a matter of whether or not they believe the theory, just how they approach it.

If they believe that myths such as Creationsim should be placed with as much scientific value as Evolution, then they're out, due to extreme stupidity.

If they personally don't believe it, but recognize that it does have standing scientific value, and Creationism belongs nowhere in science, then I can deal with it.

I'd prefer to have someone who's actually done more than 5 minutes of research, because that's all it takes to realize that evolution is proven fact.

Like Strel pointed out, it indicates a fundamental intellectual deficiency. And since there are no competing theories, one rather wonders what such a President would be basing his decisions on in a crisis. Such as an epidemic.

I don't really care if the local dogcatcher of shopkeeper do not have a grasp of the fundamentals. Their decisions are hardly going to affect me. The desicions of the President of the United States affects everyone in the world.

Some fundamental general knowldge and intelligence is the least voters should be able to ask for. Personally, I'd rather see that in a candidate than good hair, but I am clearly in the minority on that one.

Basically, I'd see it in the same way as someone who stated they did not believe in the theory of gravity, or the theory of electricity or nuclear theory.

I think it doesn't matter on that one issue, but again in schools if they are going to throw evolution out there, they should also throw the possibility of something creating the process of life as well.

Not a major issue IMO.

For one, if someone believes in the fairy tale, it shows they're an idiot...or gullible. I'd be leery of an evolutionist as prez.

Because it means they're stupid, and would prefer to base their beliefs on fiction, rather than science.

Which is why we want someone who believes in Evolution and not some book that cannot be proven in any scientific way.
