McCain was born in Panama where his father as a U.S. solder was under military orders...making John McCain a born U.S. citizen.

actually military service doesn't affect the citizenship status of offspring. if mccain's father had been the good humor man his citizenship would have been the same.

that being said....... the odd thing about mccain's birth was the year he was born congress specifically considered children born in the canal-zone to be "US nationals" and not "US citizens" ( they were later retro-actively declared "US citizens ). what's the difference? no clue and obviously it didn't matter to 2008 congress.

United States nationality law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mainly these are those born in American Samoa, Guam, US Virgin Islands, and the Philippines. They have US Nationality, but not citizenship.

But, being a US National, you can work and travel freely from the US to other US possessions, without restrictions. Unlike aliens who require travel visas, education visas, or work visas to come to the US, US Nationals do not need them, and are not restricted.

They do have to apply to be Citizens like any immigrant seeking naturalization.

BTW, all US Citizens are US Nationals.

McCain was not born a US citizen. There was some oddity in the law that required the Senate to pass a resolution making him an NBC before he could run for POTUS. IF theare had been ANY issue with Obama, the senate would have done the same thing for him.

I don't know if you're a birther or not, but birthers need to get over it.

Obama could invent a time machine out of DeLorean, travel back in time with Doc Brown, videotape his own birth, interview everyone from his mother to the attending doctors, take DNA samples, and send letters into the future detailing the events, and there would still be people such as yourself who would refuse to believe the evidence. This is not about Obama so much as some peoples' refusal to accept his presidency. I wonder why.

Regarding Senate Resolution 511 Declaring McCain A "Natural Born Citizen"

Second, they say McCain is a NBC because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone which was a “sovereign U.S. territory” at the time of McCain’s birth in 1936. They treat that territory the same as U.S. soil and maintain that under the 14th Amendment he is a “natural born Citizen.”What they fail to properly explain, however, is how they get from the 14th Amendment’s use of the term “Citizen” to Article II’s use of the term “natural born Citizen.” In fact, the authors do not address in their analysis the question of whether there is a difference between Article II’s “natural born Citizen” and the Fourteenth Amendment’s “Citizen.”

They also say on two occasions that “natural born Citizen” includes birth within our nation’s territory and allegiance. This statement clearly suggests that being born on U.S. soil alone is not sufficient to make the child a “natural born Citizen,” for the child’s “allegiance” also has to exist at the time of the birth. Just being born on U.S. soil cannot possibly provide that allegiance, for then why include the term with the requirement of having to be born on U.S. soil. The issue for the U.S. Supreme Court, assuming that Obama was born in Hawaii, would be to decide what is meant by the child’s “allegiance

i've always wondered why the birthers, if they believe apuzzo's stance on eligibility, never question why he never brought it up during the 2008 campaign?

Comments like this show the poster's lack of professionalism and competence regarding the eligibility debate.

The poster continues to smear those who rightfully believe Obama is not a natural born citizen.

But..this is what Obots do..when they are losing the debate.
