This day and age with so many people out of work union members could really have such tactics backfire and find themselves completely out of work and out of contract. Plenty of people with families to feed will be more than happy to take their jobs.

You and I don't want to see that but some of the real lefties here certainly do think it would work very good. They need to awaken before they get what they want so badly.
A win-win for the managers of companies who want to get rich off the backs of virtually slave labor and for the bankers who profit as well.
I don't remember kids dressing like those in the picture during the 1930s when I was a child. Maybe your picture is over 100 years old and many changes have taken place. I think that more of those changes were dependent on the Muckrakers who exposed so much of that kind of thing than on unions.
Do you have a copy of "How the Other Half Lives"? Surely you could find some worse pictures there.
What would be a fair salary for a man who stands on the assembly line and tightens a nut someone else put on? It sounds like you think it should equal that of the white collar workers in corporate headquarters. Am I wrong?
Unions served a great purpose... in the past. Thanks to them, we now have in place the legal framework to guarantee that we wouldn't revert to the conditions you're so concerned about.
They did a great job. That job is done.
The only purpose they serve in 2011 is to continue to justify their existence to their members by getting them more compensation than the jobs they're performing are worth.
What would stop them?

I would rather not support it. We should take a stand, as a nation, and refuse to allow imports of any goods made by slave/child labor. I don't care what the stuff is. I can do without it!
