That's got to hurt - when the media finally gets around to doing their job regarding obama's statements - they find he is not at all honest.
Obviously, some people can't grasp that the rich can't help but pay more taxes than the middle class, including even if everyone paid 15% or whatever per cent. Further, it's been accepted in this country that we should have a progressive tax rate so those who make the most money have the most to spare for taxes. If I was one of those making the kind of money with the highest tax rates I would be thanking God and counting my blessings, rather than complaining about it. If they are complaining about it, then they probably need to get their luxury spending under control just like some members of the middle class need to their middle income spending habits under control.

What the heck?

You lost money and you are asking me where the risk is? Really?

C'mon man...

LOL, Where do you think the money is coming from to buy the billions of shares of stock sold on Wall Street every day?

OP, yeah they pay more cuz the accumulation of wealth within the hands of a few is so great in this country.

At issue is that the 'wealthy' pay a percent share of their income lower than pretty much everyone else...so bring on your 'poor' people pay nothing examples. pls, some real concrete examples with actual numbers.

top 1% of income tax filers in 2006 had AGI's of $388,800. just under 3% of 2006 tax filers had AGI's over $250,000. talk about class warfare. 97% of americans versus 3%.

at birth, you have a better shot of making the NFL than becoming a top 1 or 3% tax filer in this country!

Why is this discussion even taking place?
We live, for the time being, in the most productive society on earth, with a high standard of living.
We all think it is the best place on earth to live.
We should all want to do our part to insure the country remains strong and solvent.
What are we fighting about?
During WW2, folks did without all sorts of necessities without bitching.
Are we so afraid some mythical welfare queen is going to get some undeserved benefit that we are willing to allow this nation to go into the toilet?
We are all stomping pissants while the elephants are running wild. We better get a grip cause China sees us in free fall and is standing in the wings to take over.

Seems some are the escape goat for those in power who simply cannot control their spending habits, outrageous spending at that. What is the wealthy suppose to make up for those in Office, who don't have a handle on spending.

Simple to understand, no Washington does not know how to control their outrageous spending. Give me a break, easy to see what is going on, oh but i know, some just don't see it.
