There's no reason it should be in any doubt to begin with.
No one has the right to judge Bennett's or anyone else's "patriotism", least of all the types who go around "wearing it on their sleeve", more like some sort of chip on their shoulder.

Did someone put a gun to his head and force to utter the words?
Bennet earned the right to speak his mind from his service in the Battle of the Bulge, all you FOX watching, flag waving super patriots can stuff it.
His opinion is nothing more than any other US citizen. Tony Bennet is a singer.

And, yes, Tony, our actions contributed to the terrorist attacks of 9/11, more and more people have realized this in the past 10 years
Nothing (and I mean nothing) we did (or can do) justifies such an attack on civilian population. People that were in those planes and towers are not responsible of anything in the middle east. Some were not even Americans, but foreign travelers and visitors who happened to be at the wrong place. In addition nothing justifies committing suicide just to kill people at random. Anyone who thinks of committing such acts, as well as supporting others to do so is insane. BTW, this mental disease is relatively new. The US fought bloody wars in Korea and VietNam, causing great damage and loss of life, yet nobody responded with such acts. In contrast, Middle East Arabs did not suffer anything to explain any suicide attacks. And they did not target those responsible of US foreign policies. Only a sick person can connect between US military presence anywhere and the poor people who boarded a plane in Boston, or the guy who cleaned the windows of the towers.
P.S - If we "understand" those murderers, why not people like sniper John Allen Muhammad who killed random victims in the DC area, or Seung-Hui Cho who committed the massacre at Virginia Tech in 2007?
I agree with you bobman. I hate it when people are labeled "unpatriotic" for not supporting the conflicts that we're involved in. You can still support the troops, and love your country, and still be against the war. We need to start taking care of our own house for once. Should another nation pose a serious threat to us, then by all means, we should handle our business. With that said, Iraq, nor Iran pose an immediate threat to our national security.
A perfect post, IMHO.

What does Hitler have to do with Iraq? One war does not justify all wars. Just because you don't want to be a worldwide bully doesn't mean you are a pacifist.
