It's not the politicians that privatize. It's the voters not taking advantage of the right to vote. Look at the 08 elections. I won't argue if president Obama would have won or not but the fact is that republican voters failed to show up at the polls. In fact in Colorado republican turn out was the lowest that it had ever been by percent.

You must read up on the family. It is quite interesting. Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. had a career in finance, making a large fortune as a stock market, commodity investor, investing in real estate and a wide range of industries including many in Hollywood, and he made use of inside information which was legal at the time You don't get there with out having some personal debts.
So yes the Kennedy's family was beholding to many people. including some former Presidents.
