The U.S. Military is no place for gays. Santorum nailed it in his presentation on the subject. If they want to serve that is find but there is simply no need for implications about their sexual preferance. It is just an attention getting device for lonely, insufficient people. If they were truly sufficient in themselves they would not need the attention. Is what it is, so what.

The United States Military is a killing machine first and foremost that is what it does why it exists. It is no place for the faint of heart!
So, because someone is gay, s/he is "faint of heart?"
Really?

Curious all the more, since they belong to a religious group (mormons) that has done more to terrorize gay americans than any other religion.

I didn't say the entire audience booed, I said they cheered when Santorum was discussing reinstating DADT and talking about gays and sex. Learn to read.

Not cheer, but boo. Proving you never watched the tape.
Again, you failed to read.

Not anti-gay crowd. Since when do 2 or 3 people out of 5000 speak for everyone?
When an entire audience of people cheer at Santorum claiming he wants to reinstate DADT and put gays back in the closet, it's an anti-gay crowd.

Most republicans are not anti-gay. And since you obviously are willing to lie about these other points, is safe to assume that this is just a lie also.
I would say most Republicans are anti-gay. There are certainly those that aren't, but one need only look at a sampling on this board to see every anti-gay poll, where people oppose gay rights, gay marriage, etc. it's always the Republicans on the anti-gay side.

Do you think that's a coincidence?

DADT - enacted by a Democrat. A fact completely glossed over by the Libs. And makes is quite obvious that liberals are anti-gay.
Times were different in the 90s, and Clinton didn't do it as an opposition to gays, he did it as a lesser of the evils compromise to allow gays to still serve .

Exactly. Reading is fundamental isn't it?

Exactly. There is an excellent documentary on HBO right now called "The Strange History of Don't Ask Don't Tell" that puts everything in historical context. Future generations will look back on this and wonder why we as a society allowed DADT to continue for so long.

I agree with the statement that Clinton did it as a compromise to let gays serve. Admitting gays in the military was brought up VERY early in his administration. Repugs made such a big deal about it that it threatened Clinton's other goals. It became the ONLY talk of the day and kept other goals from getting done in the first 2 years of office before the off year elections, which traditionally bring in more Congressmen from the opposing party.

The soldier made it a point to bring attention to his being homosexual.

Glad he was booed. Wish more had booed. People are afraid, because of the evil Politically Correctness garbage....to 'voice their honest opinion. GUARANTEE, millions more were booing...ya just couldn't hear them!

More & more people, of all political stripes, are booing homophobia and will continue to do so as time goes on. Sooner or later, all 50 states will have marriage equality, as they should!
