What is the shelf life of the guidance systems used on these "Heat Seekers"? That would make a significant difference in their usefullness.
Yes you are right GREGW.the media the other day said they found yellow cake next to crates and crates of AA missles that had deteriorated firing pins and could go off with just a nudge.
This could be the worst post ever. You used a garbage non-descriptive title. You also posted a link with no editorial. Nice post and run. Hands down the sh**iest post on the front page of the forum.

Yeah, it's a bad post because you have no idea that this even happened?
First off, I have no links to provide for the information I have and second, I've heard this from a very reputable source that I cannot disclose. I've been waiting on a thread concerning the Surface to air, shoulder launched missles that Libyans had stockpiled from the russians but didn't want to start a thread on it as I couldn't corroborate the info. It is basicly scuttlebutt but from a knowledgeable source.
This is what I got. Take it with a grain of salt, believe it or not and discard it if you please.
For months, posters have been providing unsubstantiated links that the CIA and US Special Forces have been on the ground in Libya assisting the rebels on the front lines. The russian "stingers" is the reason. CIA collected intelligence from defectors and as the rebels captured various military depots, trucks hired and run by plainclothes Special Forces and "other" US military operatives have been quietly removing those missles, and trucking them to the nearest port. As resupply ships carrying arms to the rebels have been coming in full from Italy, they have been returning to Italy with these missles and depositing them in warehouses at various nato airfields. The US gov probably hasn't recovered 100% of them but I understand that a very large percentage of them are already in US hands. This mission was of the highest priority initially for the US concerning the Libyan Revolt.
Believe it if you choose or discard it. Your choice.

Huh? I must have missed something, the link is form MSNBC and seems well sourced.
I don't find anything wrong with the title; just hover your mouse over it and you'll get more info to see if you want to read.
