It didn't work in 2008 and with Obama shooting for $1 billion this time I don't think it will this time, either.

Repubs and Dems are supporting it. In 2008, the Supremes had not yet opened the money floodgates.

Lobbyists aren't always bad. There has to be a balance.

I think where money should be taken out is campaign finance. Everyone should get the same amount of money, and the same amount of TV time, and let the people decide. Have a whole series of real debates, not the crappy made for TV ones that air now.

It's kinda of a catch 22. They need the money to buy TV ads that tell us nothing. Their campaign staffs gets a cut for every ad they place. No wonder it is all TV all the time.

The problem with your scheme is that it favors the incumbent and disfavors challengers. It takes a lot of money to overcome the advantage of incumbency.
