ran Navy to build aircraft carriers

Iran's Deputy Navy Commander Captain Mansour Maqsoudlou has announced the country's plan to design and manufacture aircraft carriers.
The initial designs for building the carriers have been approved and the process of research, design and manufacture will start soon, Captain Maqsoudlou told IRNA on Wednesday.
The Iranian commander pointed to the Navy's capacities to accomplish the task despite the time-consuming nature of aircraft carrier building.
So we will have Chinese carriers in the West of the US and Iranian in the East. This upcoming war will be interesting.
Well they can try....It won't be like a US carrier it'll be some POS reverse engineered Russki jump-jet crap wagon. We'll blow it out of the water when the time comes or better yet let the Jews sink the scow.............
I'd recommend researching the (many) failed attempts by the Russians at building a large aircraft carrier and having all the supporting ships etc. to support the operation.
Basically, this is so far beyond the capabilities of the Iranians as to be laughable.
I also doubt the Chinese can accomplish this given some of the internal problems they have with corruption, red-tape and so forth. Navies operate on quality over quantity which even the Russians struggled with over and over.
Nobody can beat America when it comes to quantity. We're probably the only ones who likes to invest in a boatload of such boats... we're overflowing with money after all. Nobody else even cares anymore about aircraft carriers.
To put that in perspective...
USA: 22
Rest of the world: 13 (Brazil, France - 2, India, Russia, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, UK - 4). But that list may be a bit old.
They would, from a military perspective, do a lot better building or buying some air breathing submarines from the Dutch or Germans. In the confined waters of the Persian Gulf a few submarines armed with modern weaponry could devastate a surface invasion fleet. In the open waters of the Atlantic or Pacific the nuclear boats have a distinct advantage. The surface ships are disadvantaged everywhere.
The only real use for an Iranian aircraft carrier is to say my unit is as big as your unit. More pride than warfare.
