Where is the FEC get the authority (standing) to determine the intent of the Founding Father’s? Do they really have this authority?

It would require a Constitutional amendment for a naturalized citizen to be eligible for presidential candidacy.

Doesn't anyone read beyond the headlines?

The wingnut sites are trying to hype this to promote outrage, but the FEC never ruled that a naturalized citizen can become president.

Here, it's buried near the end of the article:

Quote:
The FEC’s ruling, which did not receive any news media attention, concluded that a naturalized citizen is not prohibited by the Federal Election Campaign Act from becoming a “candidate” as defined under the act.

While the FEC’s own rules now allow Hassan to run for high office, the attorney must still clear judicial hurdles before his eligibility could become official.
Here listen to this guy, remember him?

How can the FEC have different rules than the Constitution? And also, they DID rule they could run, it's in your own damn quote dude!

Yet another thread where our local right wing posters are arguing for "outcomes" in legal matters but no mention of the legal argument. Will any of these know-it-alls be able to discuss the legal merits of the FEC ruling?......Of course not!....They don't care what the law says.....They just want to screw over immigrants every chance they get.

For criminy sake, the FEC said they COULD run!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care what they oversee, that's more to the point of they don't have the authority to determine who can run as a candidate and who can't, which they ARE trying to declare.
