Default NAU, who will stop it?

We know that Bill Clinton didn't want to stop it, but rather supported it. Its obvious that GWB is all over it and will do nothing but help it go further. Is there a single candidate in the running now that would put a stop to it? Ron Paul is the only one I know would not agree with it, but maybe there are others. Our sovereignty as a nation is eroding with every grain of sand that slips through the hour glass.

Who can stop it? The people. They stopped Bush's illegal amnesty bill. NAU, although more of an uphill climb than illegal amnesty, can be stopped if enough people become aware of it's ramifications and put the heat on their lawmakers both in D.C. and in their states. Power to the people.

I think states will have to have a rabid opposition that is strong enough to prevent any federal laws from overiding state laws made against further NAU development. This is yet one more reason I'm a supporter of smaller federal government that allows states more power. 1 person has more of a voice in a single state than they do in all 50 combined.

Agreed. But don't be surprised if the feds put as much pressure, if not more on the governors and state legislatures to get this through. There's a lot more at stake for them in this.

You can be sure that billions in pork will be offered to get states to go along with it. I really hope that at least a few states will be strong enough to resist.

If we are unable to get anything done on immigration, it's obvious that we won't get the NAU passed. The lawmakers might be corrupt but they aren't 100% retarded. Besides, if it does get passed it would just go to courts and be thrown out due to consititution and the whole we won't be subject to another government thing.

Don't be so sure Marodi, the United States Constitution means little to this current administration. Just yesterday when served with subpoena's, Dick Cheney claimed that the Vice Presidents office was not part of the executive branch and so thus didn't have to be answered!

You are right that lawmakers are not 100% retarded, but what many of them are is intelligent, cold, calculating and self serving(thankfully there are some who are corrupt but at least not heartless) and if history proves anything it is that anything is possible, even if implausible.

The main thing is, as a citizen, stay focused and attentive to what's going on. Go on with your life, but don't be thrown off with various distractions designed to lull the general public, including state and federal politicians into compliancy. Our founding fathers and President Eisenhower warned us about this very thing.

Yes, but the corrupt will still vote it down because it will take away from their power since there will be a higher government. We all know congress hates that.

It looks like the question of the NRU needs to be one of the most important questions posed to any potential presidental candidate.
