So now if I use medical Marijuana, I can't buy a gun ?????????????
What about if I use medical Viagra ???? Or non medical Red Bull ????
When did we decide that the Feds should tell us how to live our lives?
And what does taking a medication have to do with buying a gun????????????
BUT..... If I pose as a Mexican Drug Dealer, I can get all the guns I want....... THANKS OBAMA !!!!!!!!
The Federal Government is absolutely out of control. We should totally abolish the ATF and the DEA. This is what the idiots protesting wall street should be protesting.
"DENVER — You can have your gun, or you can have your medical marijuana. But the Obama administration now says you can’t have both.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is in the crosshairs for a recent memo prohibiting gun merchants from selling firearms to anyone who uses marijuana, including those with state-issued medical-marijuana cards."

Dude, what did you think they meant when they ask on the standard 4473 form;
"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"
Is marijuana, even medical marijuana a legal prescribed drug under federal law???
Yes, at the federal level. Which is something they have no legal power to do.
And what does that have to do with buying a gun ?
Last time I checked, the 2nd amendment did not put a drug restriction on having guns.
2nd Amendment:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The Constitution also allows government the power of Regulation through codes and laws.
The federal government has the right to determine who can purchase and own guns, by passing laws that regulate that determination (can't be a convicted criminal, can't be taking illegal drugs, can't be under the influence, etc). That's why gun registry laws have never been found to be unconstitutional, despite the many challenges.
i have no problem with certain gun control laws. for instance i dont want people with mental issues, or convicted criminals to get their hand on guns. even one of my uncles, who was a gun lover, realized that certain people should never be allowed to own firearms. at this time marijuana is illegal at the federal level, and in many states as well, and as such people who use it should not be allowed to own firearms. sorry if that goes against your beliefs. i also believe that alcoholics should not be allowed to own firearms(yes i consider it a mental disorder).
as i have constantly maintained, with rights come responsibilities. and if you are going to own a firearm, you need to take a high level of responsibility as a result of that ownership. and toking on a joint once in a while is not maintaining a high level of responsibility, and neither is getting drunk on a regular basis.
Well, if ya wanna get literal, look at the bolded word. Only states can enact those regulations, not the federal government.
State = United States of America (funny how the language of our fore fathers can confuse some people). That would be too literal on your part.
