You really should read up on recent history.
Really? Did the Soviet archives prove EVERYONE that lying drunk accused to be guilty of a crime? Unless you can prove so I'll continue to regard him as the drunken, lying POS he was and the hero of the paranoid rightists he still seems to be.

The fact the Soviets were doing the same thing to us that we were doing to them doesn't change the fact McCarthy promoted rampant paranoia in the US, justified or not. Working on the premise of "Accuse them all, some will be proved guilty" doesn't make him a hero in my book.

Why do you even want to associate yourself with communists when you have a communist enemy that wants to destroy your country?

Which, as a part of what constitutes a freely-debated, rigorously applied approach to tertiary liberal education, with its absolute insistence on academic freedom of speech, is 100% healthy and okay.

The point I am trying to make among the static here is not that certain beliefs should be anathema, but that no group should be able to silence others in the name of political partisanship or correctness.

The trouble with the style of retro-Soviet totalitarian methodology which has permeated our liberal arts faculties is that it stifles that which it was designed to encourage -- namely, free, open and DIVERSE opinion -- in the name of a "higher", pseudo-theological approach, which values indoctrination over the encouragement of independent thought, and the recruitment of political cadres over the maturation of skeptical students unafraid of questioning their professors' orthodoxy -- or anything else.

Is this really what we wanted for our young people? That they simply be turned from one received orthodoxy to another, equally monolithic, equally flawed and equally demanding of obedience? That conformity to the majority opinion, enforced by faculty more interested in political power than free enquiry, be made the goal of a liberal education?

Personally, I find this contemporary scenario a whole lot more compelling -- and more depressing -- than what one ambitious Senator, possessed of who knows what demons, did or said some fifty-odd years ago at a time when our avowed enemy was threatening us with nuclear weapons. The fact that McCarthy's methods, in the hands of those who would purport to despise him so vehemently, are alive and well and functioning efficiently, is truly and tragically ironic.

It would be quite enlightening to know where she gets this "inside information" that is unsupported by any other source than her keyboard.

Anti-Americanism includes socialists and communists, since they vehemently oppose the founding principles of the nation.
Please, point out where socialism goes against any of the 3.

hollywod does this to conservative actors all the time....

Many hide the fact that they are conservative so that they can still land roles

A planned economy, which is a fundamental part of socialism, is anti-liberty.
