The American people favor the Jobs Act by 2 to margin. Over 80% favor how it's paid for. The Repubs want to position themselves against that. Hmmmm, now that a wise stance??? Yep I can see where the Dems may have some ammo for 2012.

Really?
No one asked me.

And we're 14 trillion dollars in debt; we can't pay for anything.

that the bad bill doesnt create jobs, or balance the budget

all obama's ANTI-jobs bill does is INCREASE the GOVERNMENT and INCREASE the DEBT, ..oh wait it does creat jobs....for LAWYERS

Subtitle D is dubbed the “Fair Employment Opportunity Act of 2011”. This comprises Sections 371 thru 379.

The Enforcement in Sec. 375 seems to equate violations of this act to violating the Civil Rights Act

(a) Employers- It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer to--
(A) any provision stating or indicating that an individual's status as unemployed disqualifies the individual for any employment opportunity;

more fodder for lawyers

------------------------

the 2 billion+ dollar bailout of amtrac....page 31......more wasted money on failing companies

or is it 3 billion...no wait...6 billion..and 5 billion more......why do we pay a gas tax..???

over 40 billion going to the DOT

---------------------------

and the establishment of ANOTHER GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT (bigger government)

SEC. 245. ESTABLISHMENT AND GENERAL AUTHORITY OF AIFA. (a) Establishment of AIFA- The American Infrastructure Financing Authority is established as a wholly owned Government corporation. (b) General Authority of AIFA- AIFA shall provide direct loans and loan guarantees to facilitate infrastructure projects that are both economically viable and of regional or national significance, and shall have such other authority, as provided in this Act.

page 40

in reading it it sounds like a fannie/freddie on steriods

------------------------------

Section 278 - Required collections for spectrum license fees.
The Commission would have the power to assess a user fee on almost any spectrum license holder, including commercial wireless, satellite and broadcast radio. Television broadcasters and public safety licensees are statutorily exempt from the user fee under the Communications Act of 1934.

These fees will be absorbed in costs to the customer - so basically this is a hidden tax through cell phones, satellite services, etc

--------------------

SECTION 284. ESTABLISHMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY BROADBAND CORPORATION.

Described as...

neither an agency nor establishment of the United States Government or the District of Columbia Government.

... yet its members are...

The following individuals, or their respective designees, shall serve as Federal members: (A) The Secretary of Commerce. (B) The Secretary of Homeland Security. (C) The Attorney General of the United States. (D) The Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

And the Sec. of Commerce picks the 11 non-federal members of the board. How can you NOT be an agency of the U.S. Government but have members of the administration as its board members?

----------------------------------

Teacher Stabilization, Sections 202-215

Why does the teaching profession need "stabilization"? If I understand correctly the teaching industry has 50% less unemployment than most other sectors in our economy. How can this be interpreted as anything other than a payback to teacher's unions?

-----------------------

SEC. 261. PROJECT REBUILD (a) Direct Appropriations.— There is appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $15,000,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2014, for assistance to eligible entities including States and units of general local government (as such terms are defined in section 102 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (42U.S.C. 5302)), and qualified nonprofit organizations, businesses or consortia of eligible entities for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed-upon properties and for the stabilization of affected neighborhoods.

this to bail out Freddie/Fannie in the rehabbing of homes that are "unmarketable" instead of leaving these to be auctioned "as is" and rehabbed through the private sector?

----------------

out of the 447 billion only 85 billion goes to infrastructre:

Quote:
Quote:
Infrastructure spending

$25 billion to modernize and renovate elementary and secondary schools
$5 billion for state grants to modernize and renovate community colleges
$2 billion for airport development grants
$27 billion for restoration of highways, passenger and freight rail, and port infrastructure
$2 billion for repair and upgrade of Amtrak railroad assets and infrastructure
$3 billion for new buses and for repairing rail and bus systems in urbanized areas
$6 billion to modernize existing guideway systems and bus facilities
$15 billion to redevelop abandoned and foreclosed housing properties and affected neighborhoods
That's $85B out of $447B or 20% of the bill's "investments".
Is this really a jobs plan?

Quote:
One does not have to dip very far into the bill to find trouble. Section 4 of the AJA imposes "Buy American" restrictions on the use of funds appropriated under this statute for work on public buildings. "[A]ll the iron, steel and manufactured goods" used on such projects are to be fabricated in the United States. --- The fatal problem with this form of jingoism is that, in the name of economic efficiency, it forces American taxpayers to pay more for less. That upside down logic may seem sensible to a die-hard Keynesian, but not to ordinary people who realize that deliberate overpayment for inferior goods makes no more sense in the public sector than in the private one.
Another problem in that section...

Quote:
It allows its legislative mandates to be waived when the head of the relevant federal agency finds that its enforcement is against the "public interest," including in hard to calculate cases where such deliberations increase project costs by 25 percent. The basic structure of the AJA thus uses large doses of administrative discretion to defang some of its most unrealistic commands. In so doing, it introduces what I have termed elsewhere the vice of government by waiver, where unbridled discretion creates uncertainty and breeds favoritism.

-------------------
its a government expansion bill...not a jobs bill

No. They never claimed to create any jobs especially not at a rate that will lower UE. They did claim to save some jobs though which obviously fizzled out. And now here we are again ready to see if it'll save those jobs for a second time. LOL.
