According to the U.S. Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, only 49% of income earners pay any federal income tax.

22% either don't pay or get everything they did pay refunded when they file their tax return, 30% get back MORE than they ever paid in (redistribution of wealth), and only 49% have a net liability of anything above $0 in federal income tax.

What about that do you not understand?
That's "federal income tax". Why the hell are you so anal about federal income tax and insistent that if you don't pay that particular tax then you're a freeloader? Ever hear of other federal taxes like the payroll tax and such? Also state and local taxes (or do they only count when Sean Hannity's paying them?)

They're are other federal taxes besides the income tax

A terrible idea and an even worse idea. In both cases the poor would be paying a higher percentage of their income in taxes than would the rich

They already do that by falling all over themselves to get to the closest Apple store so they can enrich an evil company that created 400,000 jobs in China.

No YOU and the extremist right-wing are talking about defunding the federal government. Taxpayers don't want to defund the federal government.

Many of that "47%" are senior retirees who worked all their lives and aid taxes but now earn so little that they no longer pay taxes.

As does everyone else, so I'm not buying that lame excuse.

The FACT of the matter is that our federal government incurs HUGE costs providing protections, benefits, and services, and 51% of income earners FAIL to pay for those costs via the federal income tax. They're NOT paying their fair share and they're freeloading off the 49% who DO pay.

What about their FAILURE to pay their fair share to fund the federal government do you not understand?

Another lame excuse. The percentage of income earners paying NO federal income tax has been increasing for years. The leech class has been growing.

Says who? I'm all for a MUCH smaller federal government. It's all the massive social welfare spending programs that have swelled it into a massively costly and HUGELY unsustainable behemoth.

That's whay a flat tax works so well. Earn very little; pay very little ...all the while continuing to benefit from federal government protections and services.
