That is incredibly stupid, since Wall Street plays a large role in getting people elected. They help put people into power. If we started fresh with all new elections, we'd get more corporate cronies because of our electoral process and how Wall Street has co-opted it.

Exactly. This post says it all. These protesters don't understand the financial crisis.

The problem lies with us, no matter how crooked the government it.
So which corporation will you buy your next cell phone from, or internet service or car, or medicine?

Did you read my response? That is not an actual link to the protesters' demands.

Here's the link to Occupy Chicago: Our PROPOSED Demands | Occupy Chicago

Here's the link to Occupy Wall Street: PROPOSED LIST OF DEMANDS (please help edit/add so this can be submitted for consideration to those maintaining the official list) | OccupyWallSt.org Forum
(just proposed, and frankly don't rely on it to much, OWS will probably reject a consolidated list at all)

Your link was one dude's nonsense, as the admin takes pains to point out. The point is, credit card debt is not a central issue, and making this about the consumption of the protesters is idiotic. You want to keep painting this as a protest demanding handouts, and it's not. Deal with their complaints about Wall Street/Washington collusion instead of misguided attacks about the products they supposedly purchase.

Um... the corrupt politicians don't say no, do they.

The battle should be waged in D.C., Capitol Hill, and at the White House. Wall Street would have NO influence whatsoever if Obama, Geithner, Dodd, Frank, etc., and their corrupt band of politicians would just say no.

And apparently, neither do their supporters.

So it's the politicians, not the system, yet the politicians can't come into power without buying into the system. Okay. You say it's just Washington. I say it's Wall Street and Washington. We won't agree. That's fine. Just note that the (Chicago's are the most coherent) demands are largely predicated on forcing Washington's hand, and note that you've been forced to ditch your original argument about credit cards because it was based on your own misinformation and ignorance.

Exactly. The only way these corporations, insurance companies and financial institutions can get away with fraudulent schemes and going bankrupt, is our politicians in government are in collusion with them. Corporations like GE pay zero in federal income taxes, and yet we give them $5 billion to fund their employee early retirement programs, it just makes you want to scream.

Our politicians are playing crony capitalist with our tax dollars. The huge sums they tax us for now, are not enough to satisfy them, they are taxing our future wealth by borrowing money, and giving that money to their cronies like Solyndra and GE too.
