yeah, it's too bad 100% of liberals don't believe in this, our country would be amazing. Instead they want to take from those that earn it, and give it to those that don't deserve it.

Start from the very beginning of the video where he says he's going to provide "the facts." Then proceeds to reel off a bunch of his pet theories. Maybe 'trickle down' does work, maybe it doesn't, but either way it is a theory, not a fact.
No serious economist would make a mistake like that. Social scientists generally tend to be very careful with that kind of terminology. Reich is a politician, not an economist.

Fascinating. So far we have throngs of conservatives attacking the original poster, the speaker, even the university he teaches at, but not a single challenge to a single factual claim.
It's pretty easy to lay out opinions as he has with not one shred of documentation to back up his claims. It took him 2:30 to run through that whole thing..
I think he is full of crap.
My take is simply this...
1. Government CANNOT spend more than it takes in!! Could you..in your household budget...carry around a debt that equals 50 times what you make in a year?? Of course not....you would never be able to get loans to get to that point because the banks wouldn't allow it!! But the government can get away with it because they can order more money printed, and also sell our debt to the Chinese and other countries. We are to the point now where the Federal government doesn't take in the money on a daily basis through tax revenue to pay the interest on the Chinese loans for just that day. THAT is a fact Mr. Reich.
2. there needs to be a complete overhaul....RIGHT AWAY....of the Tax code in the United States. When Obama's best pal Jeff Immelts (CEO of GE)..for example... can hide BILLIONS of dollars in GE corporate profits in offshore banks so that they don't have to pay ANY...not ONE DIME...of corporate tax to the government, then there is something seriously WRONG!! The loopholes created for speical interests over the years MUST GO...or better yet....go to a FLAT TAX system where there are no loopholes and everyone...including the rich..pay the same rate. That gets more revenue for the government..helps out corporations with a lower tax rate, and encourages expansion and the creation of jobs. It also allows the government to LOWER the tax rate on middle Americans from where it is now (approximately 28%) to around 15% and that puts money in our paychecks!! More buying power...and more money to pay OUR OWN debt!! WIN/WIN!!
3. Get the hell out of the Middle East!! Get our troops HOME and end the expense for what will end up being NO GAIN. We got Bin laden...our work there is done. We all know that as soon as we leave...whether it be NOW or 20 YEARS from NOW, the Taliban will take over Afghanistan the next day, and Iran will eventually use it's influence to get rid of the democracy in Iraq. So why waste our money, and risk the lives of our brave soldiers even one more day? Let those people fend for themselves....TRUE FREEDOM ONLY COMES WHEN YOU HAVE FOUGHT FOR IT YOURSELF. The United States cannot sell democracy to people who have no concept of what it is to be free and who are so deepley steeped in religion that they know no other way. It is a losing effort. War machine be DAMNED...let's get out NOW!
4. Impose tariffs on goods coming into this country that were made overseas by AMERICAN COMPANIES who have shipped that work to foreign lands. yes....a HIGH tariff. That should be the price of sending jobs overseas!! Now...on the other hand, you also need to create incentives for bringing work BACK to this country...especially manufacturing jobs!! the sad truth is this...not everyone can afford to go to college and have a job as a doctor...or a computer tech...or a scientist. But people have ALWAYS made a good living in the manufacturing world...it has ALWAYS been the backbone of this nation's economy. Problem is that we have made it easy for companies to send work overseas, especially with NAFTA....AND the government has created an environment that is not 'BUSINESS FRIENDLY'. Sure, they give loans for small business and such...but they also impose too many REGULATIONS and TAXES!! For instance...recently, the EPA issued a new regulation on how much DUST could be in the workplace. ?? Is that conducive to creating jobs when you could be FINED for not adhering to such a stupid regulation?? Also in the news recently...one of the government agencies SHUT DOWN Gibson Guitars for bringing rosewood in from India and having their own workers finish the wood so they could use it for fretboards on their guitars!! Why? Well there is no US regulation against Gibson doing this work...but apparently INDIA has a restriction that the rosewood exported from that country must be finished by THEIR workers. So OUR government shut down an AMERICAN FACTORY in order to make them comply with INDIA's regulations!! Apparently they didn't have enough of our OWN regulations to enforce....they now need to enforce regulations for other countries as well.
5.Get rid of OBAMACARE. While the idea of socialized medicine might be attractive in many ways, we cannot allow the government to impose it's will on the people to BUY insurance. Also, we CANNOT continue to foot the bill for the illegal immigrants who continue to pour into this country and suck our social programs dry. It has to STOP. the free ride has to be OVER. We need to STOP all aid...medicaid, welfare, assisted housing and free education...to people who have come here in DEFIANCE of our laws. there is a right way and a wrong way to come to this country, and just coming across the border to help yourself is NOT the right way. One of us should give that a try in Mexico...sneak over the border and take up residence there and apply for government aid....let's see if we ever hear from you again!! Yet they in the mexican government criticize anyone or any STATE in the US who stands up and wants to STOP the illegal flow of humanity that THEY encourage. And we have a president and congress who do the same thing. Obama has blocked both Arizona and Alabama's new laws that would help get THEIR illegal immigrant problems under control. To me, the provision in Obamacare to give illegal immigrants FREE HEALTHCARE is a deal breaker. OBAMACARE has to go...as do the illegal immigrants in this country. Our borders need to be controlled...if that means building a wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico...then so be it. Whatever it takes...we must do.
these are just 5 things that could be done...or should I say NEED to be done right away that would get this country back on the road to recovery. We need LEADERS who will do what needs to be done....take the bull by the horns and actually do what is RIGHT for the legal citizens of THIS country for a change. We need leaders who care about US first and foremost...Not INDIA...not AFGHANISTAN...and not ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!! US!!
When Americans can finally look at their government and see that they are in OUR corner and doing what needs to be done to make us the great country it once was and still can be...then we can have confidence again. We won't have to fear being sold down the river for special interests or VOTES. THEN we can get back to being the America that I grew up in.
Everyone working for the government means huge taxes because tax dollars pays for government workers... the government doesn't have any profit or make any goods or services to make a profit.. the bigger the government expenditures the bigger the tax burden on the people cutting their paychecks creating more working poor.
Maybe we should all quit our jobs and go on unemployment and welfare and food stamps because Nancy Pelosi said that stimulates the economy.. and no one would have to work!!!

i was thinking the same thing.
i'm not crazy about robert reich. claim #2 is dubious. claim #4 and #7 are matters of opinion. claim #5 is wrong. claim #6 is misdirection. still, the video is mostly accurate.

And we have a president and congress who do the same thing. Obama has blocked both Arizona and Alabama's new laws that would help get THEIR illegal immigrant problems under control. To me, the provision in Obamacare to give illegal immigrants FREE HEALTHCARE is a deal breaker. OBAMACARE has to go...as do the illegal immigrants in this country. Our borders need to be controlled...if that means building a wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico...then so be it. Whatever it takes...we must do.
