Why would anyone accept an "apology" 66 years after the fact? The people who formed our government at the time are all dead. But I guess that's life in the Age of Political Correctness. Kind of makes you wonder what past incidents still need to be apologized for (and how far back in history to go in order to make the apologies).

During the Revolution, we invaded Canada. I hope they aren't still mad about that--perhaps we should apologize before it's too late.

I guess China, Korea, Malaysia, the phillipeans invited them too? LOL.

Japan had a clear plan that started 12-15 years before Pearl Harbor.

that's all right, there are a few US Americans that refuse to take Japan's apology for bombing Pearl Harbor.

yeah, because 2400 lives lost at Pearl Harbor is worse than the 260,000 lost in Japan which included women, children, and the elderly.

I'm aware of the massacres particularly against Manchuria. I'm simply saying the Japanese knew their fate was sealed when they attacked us and they accept the responsibility that comes with waging war with the US. Whether they approved of their actions leading up to war is another conversation altogether.

Yep, that 9.3% growth in GDP was a nightmare!

And with the "now hiring" signs everywhere, inflation below 3% and the dollar at record strength, collecting unemployment and getting on food stamps was nearly impossible.

Good thing we have Obama to straighten all that out.

And none of them bad as one Obama! We need an apology, for his stupidity, in not knowing how to handle a dwindling economy, and tanking.

I am in no way a liberal....but I have to say.....the war was pretty much won long before the bombing started. The atomic bombs were dropped to "seal" the deal.

anyways, between the firebombing (hundreds of thousands of civilians killed ) and the atomic bombs dropped on Japan, they would have been considered war crimes by our standards today.

2. The Russian had a lot more to do with winning WWII then our cold war history books led us to believe.
Not sure what history books you studied. The ones I read in school back in the 1970's listed the Russians promise in Yalta and Tehran to declare war on Japan plus the Nukes put the icing on the cake for the surrender. Given also the fact that for the prior two years the Imperial Forces suffered one defeat after another.

Even without the Russians Japan's surrender would have been imminent.

A little too late isn't it, and after the fact. All involved asre most likely dead now.

Yes it is. Some of us are alive today because we decided to save tens of thousands of American soldiers.
