I was glad to see that they arrested a bishop in Missouri for failing to report child abuse (they just reassigned the priest and kept it quiet). It's time these people are held accountable--why should they be above the law?

All I can say on the rest of it is...wow. I'm floored.

We all know <wink><wink> that the Catholic church is the only corrupt and despicable religious outfit in town, right?

The Catholic Church is a gigantic organization - in fact, the largest organization in the world, with over a billion members, so of course there will be some corruption in it. To only see the evil deeds of some of the church's representatives is to ignore its overwhelming service to the world's poor and disenfranchised. Innumerable charitable organizations are associated with the church, and most or all of its religious orders are engaged in corporal works of mercy - feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, etc. No organization comes even close to providing what the Catholic Church provides, and that is only in earthly matters.
