And Marx did complain about class inequality, but he basically wanted a classless society where private property would be abolished and capitalism would be completely overthrown. If any of the OWS are advocating that, I believe they're in a clear minority as are, like, 98% of liberals (estimate)
Most people--even liberals--understand that you can't have a truly classless society, but there is a point where there's TOO MUCH inequality between classes, which harms a country's standard of living and development.
I'd like to know why you're incapable of distinguishing between people who are "centre left", "far left", "Socialist" and "communist". To distinguish between such nuances is the mark of an intelligent, thinking individual.
According to the OP anyone who does not want to take America back into the 1890s is a Socialist, or Marxist.

Labor creates wealth? Who provides the money for the machines that labor uses to create wealth? They want to run things and one of those women said that labor should control everything and she doesn't understand that someone has to provide the money for them to use to create all that wealth. These people have either been stacked on in college or in high school and continued to allow it to happen. Nobody can be a useful idiot without allowing someone else to pile that all over them.
Who provides the labor so the products can be made?

i'd much rather live in a world where some unlucky people die of starvation than a world where hundreds of millions are slaughtered to pursue an ideology!

They were very direct in their misguided, pseudo-intellectual attempts at expressing their desire for ridding the country of capitalism and redistributing the wealth of any body making over 200,000/yr, taking control of the nasty, bourgoise, capitalist hot dog stand owner's business and taxing at a rate of 75%, the greedy neurosurgeon making $500,000/yr.
I don't see a problem with any of this. In fact, I fully support it; and yes, I am a socialist, I make no bones about it. However, I am not a communist -- a strong, centralized government with absolute power will always become corrupt. I support the more moderate democratic socialism, which is actually a center-left philosophy popular in Canada and Europe. Democratic socialists seek political reforms through people-centered, democratic processes like multi-party elections and referendums, not a centralized one-party state.

who pursue the progressive agenda. making the world safe for democracy, medicare, medicaid, social security, depts of education, energy, homeland security, agriculture. no child left behind, part d, these are all foreign to the conservative point of view yet republicans promote all this garbage. why? because people have been educated to buy into keynesian economics and the wonders of state intervention

you don't even understand socialism or communism. socialism is the state ownership of the means of production and a step on the path to the marxist ideal aka communism which is where the state disappears. the soviet union was a SOCIALIST state, not a communist one!
it could be argued that gorbachev flirted with communism by trying to promote "socialism with a human face"! this meant that he removed fear out of the system. with fear removed from the system, people just stopped producing and the whole system collapsed.
tell me something, if you remove incentives from the system, why would anyone work hard to produce the goods and services we need and want? do you think people will just produce, or as practiced in all socialist countries, the govt would force you to produce?
