Population of Europe: 857 million
Populations of US: 312 million

Europeans in poverty: 79 million (9.2%)
Americans in poverty: 15.1%

European food assistance: 30 million (3.5%)
American food assistance: 44 million (14.3%)

Sure, Europeans have a higher number (for poverty)... but we have a higher percentage on both.

So which one is better?

Does this include Eastern Europe? If we were going to compare North America to all of Europe we'd have to include Mexico, Nicaragua, etc. (although we'd also get to use Canada).

Western (Liberal) Europe is certainly different that what could be called Europe (which includes much of Russian republics, etc.).

I think the population there is similar the USA - and the stats on most things are better. Less people in jail, they live longer, everyone covered by health care, less abject poverty, less violence and on and one.
