Volunteerism is a cornerstone of the Citi employee experience, with many employees regularly engaging in community service year-round. Global Community Day is an opportunity for Citi to showcase and reinforce that shared commitment by inviting employees, families and friends to collaborate as a single global volunteer team. Working throughout North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Citi volunteers will lend their time and expertise to concentrate on local community needs, including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, health care and disaster relief.
While the dirty protesters sleep with the vermin, bankers are out trying to improve our world and make it a better place to live.
Most of it is just for "show".
The people employed would do this anyway regardless of who employed them.
I work for a big corporation and I volunteer in the schools. I did this on my own and used my lunch hour to help with math tutoring in the school.
Corporation then did a press release about their employees volunteer efforts and I was contacted to be in the "corporate picture" of all their volunteers. I declined and said I volunteered on my own and on my own time and the corporation had nothing to do with it.
There's some truth and some phoniness in the corporate "volunteer" area.
While the dirty protesters sleep with the vermin, bankers are out trying to improve our world and make it a better place to live.
Take note, hypocrites.
Comcast does the same thing. If they want to do some real community service, how about not overcharging me on my bill. It is just a dog and pony show.
