Keep in mind that the SCOTUS has a conservative majority, which seems to make no difference to the candidates.
I think these are really bad ideas.
The Federal Courts should remain independent. They should have lifetime appointments to keep the independence from political elections. That is just a terrible idea.
As Justice Scalia (one of the most conservative members on the court) has said, if congress does not agree with our interpretation of the constitution then all they have to do is change the constitution. It is set up for that very thing.
Kudos to Romney and Huntsman for being on the right side of the issue. Paul is the most correct of the legal remedies available as to limiting jurisdiction, so I give him credit for understanding how the constitution works.
Most GOP presidential candidates would curb federal judges, though majority appointed by GOP - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/whitehouse/most-gop-presidential-candidates-would-curb-federal-judges-though-majority-appointed-by-gop/2011/10/23/gIQA11sE9L_story.html - broken link)

That works.
The republicans are wrong on this one. If for no other reason that it stops the accent to the U.S. Supreme Court for many of our most pressing issues. This has to be something of a talking point during an election cycle because it would never actually occur.

The article states that they actually want to be able to overrule the Supreme Court. There are two lawyers in the group, and it does not speak well for their legal education. There is only way to overrule the Supreme Court...Amendment.
Adding further evidence to the conclusion that these politicians are nothing more than pandering idiots telling people what they think those people want to hear.

I also believe that there should be a Constitutional amendment limiting the executive order power to only effect federal employees, his staff, and the district of columbia.

There is actually another way, but it hasn't been attempted since 1937.
