Why is the psychotropic active ingredient in Marijuana legal but MJ itself not?

Simple answer.

Because Big Pharma cannot make any money on the marijuana that you grow in your back yard.

We have a winner The solution is that pot smokers and those who need medicinal MJ need to form a PAC and get big money. Then they could compete with Big Pharma on greasing the palms of our elected leaders. Naw, this will not work pot smokers won't have enough money after making a score to contribute. Never mind

"Because Big Pharma cannot make any money on the marijuana that you grow in your back yard. "

Sure they can.
They have all the machinery in terms of toxicology, preclinical, regulatory, QA, sales, Marketing, clinical research ready to go.

You think the FDA is going to allow you to sell whatever you grow in your lower 40 pasture without all the scientific scrutiny that would protect the company from lawsuits? the 'littelguy' will be swallowed up by congromerates. Just check out the gang controlled drug distribution models. A small seller shows up in a gangs territory and he either pays up or gets snuffed.

Pharma is always reluctant to market drugs that work through the CNS and has a great potential for abuse. Why heck, IUDs came off the market due to lawsuits. Can you imagine the lawsuits that would accumulate from downstream injuries, accidents and 'MJ made me do it' murder trials in California????

Like Sernylan/angel dust, a widespread veterinary drug used to capture/immobilize big cats and bears. Street abuse caused so many lawsuits and it became so restricted only one company was left to make it. Not sure if anyone makes Sernylan anymore.

Ketamine, another vet drug with a very safe therapeutic dose range, was metabolized quickly and could be used on critters including ostrich, monkeys and tigers. Though the concentration available required a gallon and a half per tiger every 5 minutes. Street people crystalized the drug to concentrate its potency. It replaced the use of Sernylanand its long recovery time. Even used in "Captur" equipment for imobilizing out of control humans. Dentists used it until patients imagined the dentist was doing selfish acts while the patient was under the influence. Great drug for sanctioned uses.

This is the road MJ will travel as our lawyers are hungry and idle slimeballs will smother big pharma with lawsuits.

Return that tylenol with a broken seal but stop by the local 'drug store' and purchase whatever, cut with whatever, and pump that into your body. Don't forget to write the manufacturer of Tylenol to complain and stop by the lawyer's office for a consult.

It's simple. When pot was outlawed in 1937 Blacks and Mexicans were the primary users.

I don't think Big Pharma has anything to do with this. Billions of dollars are being made off pot today and Big Pharma makes zero. Legalize it and Big Pharma would get their fair share.

Big Pharma should be totally supportive of legalize all drugs.

Who produces Marinol and makes all the money from it?

A pharmaceutical company.

Number 1: Dronabinol is produced and marketed by BIG PHARMA (profit without competetion), whereas anybody can grow a cannabis plant.
See, Big Business and Big Government are in bed together... not so with your average cannabis grower, get it?

Because we have, and have had for many years, very Hypocritical Legislators that leave legal, the man-made crud called "Hard Liquor" while making illegal-- a plant that God made!

They have a high incidence of Alcoholism among them. They consume that manmade crud to ease the pains of the mess they have made of our country, and to cover their own consciences.

It SHOULD be that each of us answers to God, only for what we smoke, or do not smoke. I won't touch the stuff, and have not, since the seventies, and I don't drink Adult Beverages, either, but may have a glass of wine next time I fly, just one for the thinning of the blood, per sitting too long, and a tad of relaxation.
