"OAKLAND, Calif. – Police clashed with protesters in Oakland after thousands of demonstrators shut down one of the nation's busiest shipping ports, escalating a movement whose tactics had largely been limited to marches, rallies and tent encampments since it began in September.
The confrontation began after protesters started a large bonfire in the middle of a downtown street. Dozens of police in riot gear moved in on hundreds of protesters as the flames leapt more than 15 feet in the air from several large metal and plastic trash bins that had been pushed together."
Granted, this is a Fox News link, but it's still interesting. When times are bad and the leaders can't figure out what to do, frustrated people will find an outlet for their anger. And still the politicians do nothing. This could get even crazier, and hopefully there will be no violence.
BTW, I'm not supporting or slamming the occupy movement. It is what it is.

In this case, the politicians did do something. The mayor encouraged city workers to join the protest putting police in an odd position as days off for them were canceled as they were expected to be on duty. Public school teachers were also encouraged to join in, while schools were not officially closed and students were expected to be in class. Sounds like inevitable chaos.

I am sure that there will be a lot of claims of brutality when the police finally have to remove these people by force. They had better know what is in store for them.
This protest doesn't even really have a central theme anyomore except one of entitlement. Just give me some money. Nonsense/.
Time for the cops to bust some heads
kick some ass..throw some lead.
A plague is starting in this great country of mine
it just needs a shot for those that whine!!!

If these people want jobs, it seems that there are openings, for farm works, ten city occupants and license plate makers....
