I respect a lot of liberals and their views, I understand and emphasize where they are coming from. Not all, but a lot. They base their beliefs on a humanistic approach and style. To me, this is respectable and understandable... but I do not like how they want to achieve their goals, through taxation and more regulations, rules, etc.
I believe government should be free of all that, I believe people should decide for themselves right vs. wrong, and I believe that is why America is the country we are today.
I want to continue to watch the left vs. right play out, and though I consider myself a right winger, I will not always put myself on their side. Liberals aren't wrong, they just want to achieve the goodness for all a different way, a way that I may disagree with.
...but looking for politicians with an honest and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people? Which is why it's tough to belong to any party, because there are too many politicians who are dishonest sellouts, and partisan, political hacks, who would rather see harm come to the nation if it meant defeating their political opponents.
One man's honest and genuine concern for the welfare of the people is another person's enemy. There is no one politician who can foot that bill.
why do YOU think of yourself as a liberal or conservative? what beliefs do you hold with the party of your choice?
I am a right winger. I was born poor, lived in a trailer, and struggled for every dime. I am now rich. I hate liberals. Liberals, to me, are people that want to create a slave state of poor people over which they can perpetually "reign" and support to assuage their feelings of guilt over being "priveledged". Liberals are the true enemy of the poor and are a force that resembles an authoritarian monarchy, rather than a democracy, and should be derided.
A true "democracy" ensures the RIGHT of an INDIVIDUAL, as opposed to the state, to either be successful or fail. That is the promise of the US. EQUAL OUTCOMES is the promise of the defunct USSR, which oddly seems to be the end point of US liberals.

Thank you for your reasonable and even handed post. It's nice to see that not all right wingers are haters, like some people.

For sure man, I even have a lot of leftist views myself, like on gay marriage.
I just believe in right wing economics, TRUE right wing economics such as low spending, low taxation, etc. I don't like to diss liberals because I don't entirely disagree with them, I just think there are philosophical differences in how we think. I wish we could come to agreements more often, I know it won't happen but I don't hate the other side for it, I try to show respect.
