307.5 million. That's how many people live in this country. Few people can truly comprehend how many people that really is. Think of the most random act of stupidity and I bet somebody, somewhere is currently engaged in it. I'm really getting sick of random, individual sob stories being used to push much, much broader agendas. Two people. Out of 307.5 million people. Yet this whole gay thing is being pushed as some martyrdom that it just isn't. Nobody cares. I guess that's the problem more than anything, that we're suppose to run around celebrating homosexuality like it's some sort of accomplishment. Being gay isn't a sin of course, but being prideful of it is.

If liberals think Texas is bad, wait till Puerto Rico is the 51st state. They'll have a heart attack when they find out Puerto Rico still has not prosecuted anyone under the 2002 hate crime law when investigating the dozens of LGBT murders the past decade and that the police are also sometimes involved in harassing and beating up gays, and then dumping them off the other side of San Juan.

Who said their parents were gay? Oh, you must be one of those who doesn't understand the difference between genetic and inherited... I'm a complete moron when it comes to science, and even I know the difference!

It's not texas or the South. I've lived all over the south and some children are raised by ignorant bigots to fight what isn't "the norm". There should be a rule that if your not a decent human being with morals you are not allowed to raise children. On the other hand, you can't blame parents for hatefull children. I was raised to not accept things outside of the norm and I turned out very liberal and accepting.

I feel horrible for both of them. However, not 100% convinced it was a hate crime. Is there not usually hatefull words that go along with the actions?

Won't be the last time someone with the reputation of being an a-hole is beaten.

They could name just about any reason for the crime and use a hate crime enhancement.

Crime is crime, I couldn't care less if someone is calling you a name while they're beating you over the head with a bottle or not.

Would be really kinda spooky and zombie psycho-killer-like if they just beat you up and didn't utter a word.
I agree with you, a crime is a crime regardless of the reason behind the crime. You beat someone up, it is assault and battery, you kill someone (unless it is self defense) it is murder...

It's a good thing we don't have a lot of people of color here, they might have a hard time getting by...
