As a media specialist a few words of free advice. Shut up.
You now claim that you knew that this issue would come out, you claim that your team was prepared for it so why in the hell did you first pretend that you didn't know anything about it?
Your first and last response should have been, "Yes there were allegations of sexual misconduct and we reached an equitable settlement with the individuals involved in which at no time did I admit to any wrong doing. It was an unfortunate situation but that was more than 10 years ago and we have all moved on and that is the last thing that I am going to say about that."
But no!
You proceeded to deny that there was a settlement, then you acknowledged that it wasn't a settlement but an agreement.
Then you started to denigrate the then anonymous accusers (whether they deserved it or not ain't the point).
Then you accused the "left wing media" but admitted that you had no proof.
Then you accused and demanded an apology from the Perry campaign, but then had to back down because you had no proof.
Then you falsely accused some former writer for Politico of being the son of one of your accusers.
Then you get caught on camera losing your cool with reporters, bad, bad, move. Folks who want to be president don't lose control of their emotions on camera!!!
Then you held this big set piece press conference where you repeated all the mistakes above.
SHUT UP!
It may have helped your fund raising for a while, but every day you open your mouth you pour gas on the fire!
STOP IT!
If you want to get your campaign back on track, SHUT UP about the women, their lawyers, or anything else about the issue.
JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!
Well said indeed. At first I had sympathy for Mr. Cain, since I abhor 'witch hunts' (note that I never had any intention whatsoever in voting for Mr. Cain, but that does not mean I want false claims being made against him).
However, his refusal to 'shut up' and his propensity to keep lashing out in unexpected directions has, I imagine, even made his supporters think twice.
Now, it is like an ongoing train wreck. The horror, but one can't look away.
There's no catch 22, you can quite clearly state into the camera... well he could have a while back... and said, "We've explained the issue and that is all we are going to have to say about it." Oh, they'll keep asking but so what? What are they going to do about it that they aren't going to do anyway??
There is a phrase in the business for this "MESSAGE DISCIPLINE" stay the frack on point. Reagan, Clinton and believe it or not Bush were experts at this. Anyone remember how Bush dealt with the drug use issue? I do,
He has no choice but to address the accusations, shutting up would hurt him even worst, He needs to get it out in the open, force the accusers to a face off and hope for the best. He is most likely doomed.
I disagree. He is burdened by a poor staff, but the man is honorable, truthful and most importantly a businessman who is capable of getting this country back on its feet. In my mind that is far more important.
Honestly, he had no alternative but to turn and face this head on with no indication of having done anything wrong. I think this event is going to turn out to help him more than hurt him.

Can't say that these episodes spell doom, but the rest of your post is spot on.
Isn't anyone else completely embarrassed by this display from someone who wants to be the PotUS?
We aren't talking about some reality show, or Jerry Springer. This is someone who wants to represent us to the world. Undignified and dishonorable is the least of the descriptions I can throw out there.
You must be referring to Barack Hussein. Even after four years he will still be the most unqualifed candidate on the ballot.
I have to agree with you. Ive never been in a campaign obviously so I dont know how they all work. I dont know if candidates usually are on a leash and are nudged or directed by handlers.
It seems to me, that there are a couple people in his campaign that need to be fired. I liked the guy at first, but Block is probably one of them.
To do what he did last night only to quickly be proven wrong (in regards to him saying an accuser had a son working at Politico) is just incompetence. Either by him or who ever is feeding them this info.
They certainly need a better research staff and no doubt need someone leading this campaign who has experience. You are going to get it from all sides and its going to get ugly. You need to be able to handle it better than they have so far.

I only say he's probably doomed because even if he clears this mess I think it will never end for him, they will attack him from both sides I don't think either side was expecting him to be so popular. I personally like him and hope he does well.
Funny that people think HC needs to shut up, but it's ok for Obozo and Holder to flounder around about Fast and Furious.
