On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as "the Great War." Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.
THANK YOU TO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO SERVE.

Strange how being a Veteran is considered a status worthy of respect.

I recall when enlisting in the armed forces was considered a copout for the stupid or strange. I also knew many of my seniors who were veterans but never spoke regarding their service.

"For too long a time, they stood in a chill wind, as if on a winter night's watch. And in that night, their deeds spoke to us, but we knew them not. And their voices called to us, but we heard them not. Yet in this land that God has blessed, the dawn always at last follows the dark, and now morning has come. The night is over. We see these men and know them once again -- and know how much we owe them, how much they have given us, and how much we can never fully repay. And not just as individuals but as a nation, we say we love you."

Ronald Reagan

A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America for an amount of ‘up to and including my life.’

Thank you to all those who served before me, with me, and after me.

I think the USA is trying to make up for past transgretions ie Vietnam Although I never got spat upon or called baby killer I knew people who had. In the words of Forrest Gump Thats all I have to say about that
