Obama warned the debt committee to reach a deal because he will veto any attempt to avoid the cuts if a deal can't be reached. Good news.

I don't know why people are wetting themselves over these automatic cuts. The automatic cuts are NOT going to happen, no matter how much fear mongering the media and the super committee participate in

I'm afraid you're right. When the GOP can't get what they want, namely spending cuts only to social programs with no revenue increases, they will simply refuse to honor the agreement they made and pretend that it is somehow the Democrats fault. Same game, different day.

He's now playing up to the Independents. Sorry, I just don't buy it this late in the game heading towards 2012 elections.

Obama's not a Republican. Obamacare cut 500 billion from Medicare. The Republicans made those cuts a campaign issue and tried to have the cuts restored, adding 500 billion to our debt. Now they are threatening to restore the 600 billion in cuts that would happen if a deal can't be reached. That's 1.1 trillion in spending they have or will try to restore. Who's playing politics?

Watch what he does, not what he says.

So if he is so interested in spending cuts, why did he present a budget for 2012 that creates $1.3 trillion in additional debt? That is what he has done (spend wildly) and has taken no action whatsoever to control spending. In fact, he has been markedly opposed to republican proposals to cut spending.

He's finally put on his big boy pants and acting like leader he should have done sine day one. The last poll I saw said 76% of americans think the richest of rich need to pay their fair share. Obama (finally) is putting his foot down to the GOP to stop being a bunch of babies, listen to the american people, and end their outrageous spending to the rich.

Maybe Obama should have submitted a proposed budget which could have gotten ONE vote in support then rather than blaming someone else for his own incompetence. All of this could have been avoided a very long time ago.
