When I first saw this thread, I thought I didn't want to get involved in it b/c it would be too nasty. I was right. However, I wish I had started reading it sooner. There are many posts here that make me wish we could still give negative rep. BTW, I do not make negative comments via rep.

As for Giffords sad some loon took a pot shot at her but shes one step above a vegetable and has no business representing anybody anymore. Sorry that's what happens when some loon shoots you in the brain. That kook Wasserman Shults played it all up so much she got the head of the DNC for her efforts.
The old "that's different" argument!

Oh, St. Ronnie!

Apparently you weren't part of the discussions around the shooting. The RWs tried to make this guy a "liberal" from the get-go.

This shows a fundraising event. NOWHERE did they shoot weapons at pictures of Giffords.

You liberals disgust me. There really is NO level you won't stoop to.
And conservatives like those in the Republican Party of Pima County, AZ disgust me. But I'll bet you see nothing offensive or insensitive in them holding a fund raising raffle with a Glock 23 gun as a prize just a few months after Gifford was severely wounded and six others died at the wrong end of a Glock.

ETA: I am not anti-gun in case you're thinking that's where my disgust is coming from. My husband is a gun collector.

It was a tragedy that 19 people were shot and six died. As a result Giffords will be held out as a saint, when in fact, she is a left wing "enviro-nut" who should not be in Congress. The media only cares about her because she is a Democrat. Had she been a Republican, like the federal judge who was killed, she would have been off the front page the next day, as he has been.

What Google says about Rep. Giffords: Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-Az) took Afghan Commander, General David Petraeus, to task for what she characterized as "willful disregard of the environmental impact of our war effort." "There is no policy, no plan to minimize carbon emissions in our military activities," Giffords charged. "Bombs are dropped and bullets are fired without considering the environmental impact." Giffords insisted that she was "not demanding an immediate halt to current military operations in the Middle East. I'm just saying that battle plans should include an environmental impact assessment as a regular part of the process before attacks are launched."

She also suggested that the Army "put more emphasis on less environmentally damaging methods, like stabbing or clubbing enemy forces in order to minimize the carbon output."

What I don't understand, is why people continually vote these progressive socialists to public office

Oh come on! You really don't believe all that stuff that was circulating in a chain e-mail, do you? It's been debunked a long time ago as being based on a July 17, 2010 post a Conservative blog that was clearly labeled "Semi-News — A Satirical Look at Recent News." It was meant to be humor but some Republican tried to twist into fact when they started that chain e-mail.

But we were able to track down the source: a July 17, 2010, post at the Arizona Conservative blog that was clearly labeled "Semi-News — A Satirical Look at Recent News."

If you're offended, that would be on you. I really don't find it offensive. Did you find it offensive that the Dems blamed Palin, etc., with NO PROOF? Bet you didn't. And how long after Giffords was shot would be an appropriate time to hold that fundraiser? I'm thinking never.

Yeah, yeah, you'll cry deflection. But the topic is finding something offensive. And to pretend offense, because it suits your political purpose, is equally offensive.

If you've ever lived in her district, you'd know how they vote for her. I did, and couldn't get out of there fast enough.

You're right, we as a nation should force Glock to stop producing that model firearm due to the Giffords shooting.

I didn't say or suggest anything like that. If you can't see the insensitivity in offering a Glock as a raffle prize at a Republican fund raiser just weeks after a lot of people in that district had been killed or injured by a Glock then I feel sorry for you. There were a million other items they could have used for the raffle but by offering that Glock it was like they were deliberately rubbing salt in a still open wound.

Do you know for a fact that the raffle was organized AFTER the shooting? Any raffle giving away high dollar items like that are usually planned and advertised months before they take place to raise as much money as possible.

That's all besides the point though, there are millions of people walking around this country every day legally carrying Glock firearms, the gun she was shot with is a very popular model that are pretty common. If liberals want to go full retard and act like that Glock jumped up and shot those people in that parking lot then that's fine, but logical people know that a nut job with mental problems shot that lady. Had he beat her to death with a Louisville slugger would we have banned any baseball player from using one of those in games across the US? Of course we wouldn't have because it would have been stupid, just like the idea of giving away a similar gun at a raffle was somehow insensitive.
