Interesting. Nativity scenes are vandalized thousands of times every Christmas. When a Christian relgious symbol gets vandalized with alarming regularity, it's just another incident of stupid vandalism. But when it's gay symbol being vandalized, suddenly it's a "hate crime."
I would imagine the church vandalized "the gay nativity scene" themselves for the media attention.
It didn't technically look like a nativity scene. Where was "Baby Jesus"?

Gee... when I mentioned once (a while back on this forum) how a local street-side menorah had been vandalized regularly, I was told it was probably just "stupid kids being kids." Of course, they failed to acknowledge my point that all Christmas decorations - of which there were MANY - on the same block had been left alone. Weird, huh?
That being said, no vandalism is okay, and I don't see how it matters if this was a "gay nativity" scene or not... hate is hate, period. But if the OP was being serious about the "War on Christmas," I'd bet dollars to donuts this had nothing to do with it being Christmas-related. In fact, I'd add money to the bet that it was a Christian who committed the crime (thinking their religion was somehow being tarnished/mocked).
I wonder how those who push for Nativity scenes on public property would like to see THAT outside the courthouse!
Haha, me too!! They were whining incessantly about Nativity scenes not being displayed everywhere, so I wonder how they feel about this? Furthermore, can the gay Christians be fighting a war against themselves? Hmmmm.

Personally, I am waiting for a nativity scene that involves bestiality. There are so many animals out in that manger, it's cold, it's dark, it's late - you gotta wonder. I am sure it will appear somewhere in California in the near future.
Alas, a gay nativity scene strikes me as somewhat odd - were they all a bunch of lesbians, given that Mary was a "virgin?"

Then again, the scene in that report wasn't really a nativity scene, now was it. Just three couples holding hands - can't have that, you know.

Well...it wasn't a Nativity scene like we've come to expect, but they WERE holding hands underneath the Star of Bethlehem.
