Mississippi! Building a bridge back to the 20th Century!
Well, when the United States Supreme Court requires Mississippi to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples, I'm sure Mississippians will be as outraged as they were in 1967 when the high court required them to issue marriage licenses for interracial couples.
What's to be expected from Mississippi? Par for the course.
It seems to be a lot more states than Mississippi, but gays are in denial. They think that the majority of Americans approve of gay marriage. Ain't so.
Quote:
When viewing lesbian sex and straight sex, both the homophobic and the non-homophobic men showed increased penis circumference. For gay male sex, however, only the homophobic men showed heightened penis arousal.
Heterosexual men with the most anti-gay attitudes, when asked, reported not being sexually aroused by gay male sex videos. But, their penises reported otherwise.
Homophobic men were the most sexually aroused by gay male sex acts................End Quote.
Going a little off topic here but doesn't the fact that these men becoming aroused mean that they are not actually homophobic but merely acting homophobic? Doesn't that also mean that these studies are garbage? That's a rhetorical question btw.
Half of Mississippians also think interracial marriage should be illegal.
Do any of us actual care what the most obese, poorly educated, racist, anti-gay state in the nation thinks about same-sex marriage? Mississippi is our Iran.
You also might want to take a Civics 101 class, since civil rights are not up for public vote!
Iran is our Iran. BTW Mississippi is like the blackest state in the union.
I just got back from Mississippi. It's not a bad state -- a lot better than I would have thought if I didn't have some personal experience. The people are very friendly and the whites and blacks seem to get along pretty well.
That's true. I have been there myself and I found the same thing. If people listen to the ignorance on these threads you would think that slavery still exists and they still have dirt roads.

Well, as a matter of fact, it sure looks like the plurality does. You should read Nate Silver's piece, quite interesting:
You lost when it was about mixed-race marriage and you'll lose this one.
Perhaps it's time to find a new case to rally around?
Thanks Dane but the question asked in most polls on this subject rarely reflect what is shown on graphs such as this one. In other words most of these graphs are misleading and it is done with a decided agenda. The question asked is "Do you oppose gay marriage?". While it is true that the number of people who oppose gay marriage is dwindling, it is not necessarily true that those same people actually favor gay marriage but are adopting more of a tolerance toward it. They are also becoming increasingly resigned to it as more and more state judiciaries view it as their job to rewrite the law.
