My hypothalamus prevents dehydration, with the aid of water. I should also say that drinking 64 oz. of water a day is a waste and not needed. Your hypothalamus tells you how much water you need. Excess water ends up in the toilet bowl, not in your body

So if water doesn't prevent dehydration then what does ?

I think I'll stick with the "old belief" that it does and when you're outside in the summer to drink plenty of water to PREVENT DEHYDRATION.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dehydration
Dehydration symptoms generally become noticeable after 2% of one's normal water volume has been lost.
