i want republicans to think long and hard about newt. i think ann coulter actually nailed it when she said this:

So now, apparently, we have to go through the cycle of the media pushing Newt Gingrich. This is going to be fantastic.

In addition to having an affair in the middle of Clinton's impeachment; apologizing to Jesse Jackson on behalf of J.C. Watts -- one of two black Republicans then in Congress –- for having criticized "poverty pimps," and then inviting Jackson to a State of the Union address; cutting a global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi; supporting George Soros' candidate Dede Scozzafava in a congressional special election; appearing in public with the Rev. Al Sharpton to promote nonspecific education reform; and calling Paul Ryan's plan to save Social Security "right-wing social engineering," we found out this week that Gingrich was a recipient of Freddie Mac political money.

(Even I will admit, however, that Newt was great when he was chairman of GOPAC back in the '90s with Gay Gaines at the helm.)

Although Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- the institutions most responsible for the nation's current financial crisis -- were almost entirely Democratic cash cows, they managed to dirty up enough Republicans to make it seem like bipartisan corruption.

Democrats sucked hundreds of millions of dollars out of these institutions: Franklin Raines, $90 million; Jamie Gorelick, $26.4 million; Jim Johnson, $20 million.

By contrast, Republicans came cheap. For the amazingly good price of only $300,000 apiece, Fannie and Freddie bought the good will of former Reps. Vin Weber, R-Minn., Susan Molinari, R-N.Y., and Newt Gingrich, R-Ga.* Former Sen. Alfonse D'Amato, R-N.Y., was even cheaper at $240,000.

[*Correction: After Gingrich admitted last week to receiving $300,000 from Freddie, we found out this week that it was actually closer to $1.6 million.] (end)

newt may be a very good debater and very quick on his feet, but why on earth would republicans want to put up a candidate with this kind of baggage and ability to flip flop on issues?

would we really be getting a conservative in the white house for a change?

i think not.

i know that the first priority of republicans is to beat obama, but i believe that the economy will beat obama and the republicans need to have the courage to actually back a conservative for a change, or we will get more of the same. (bush/ obama)

It's convenient to disparage the "Occupy" movement by framing the ALL of the movement's participants as dirty hippie kids in need of a bath. Yes, it would be true of many of the protesters, but not all. Some of them have jobs, in fact. Others even served in the military. I've seen senior citizens involved because they're concerned about the future of subsequent generations. And one protester is a former police captain too.

No, they're not ALL dirty, lazy slobs in need of a bath. Marine Scott Olsen did two tours in Iraq. But ironically enough, Olsen would ultimately be maimed in his own country while exercising his First Amendment rights at Occupy Oakland -- rights that he ostensibly fought to protect.

Then, there's Former Police Captain Ray Lewis. He was a protester at Occupy Wall Street. And despite not being subjected to any misconduct when he was arrested, he declared, "Corporate America is using our police departments as hired thugs." So, there you have it. While the one percent are nestled in their lush opulence thinking of ways to outsource more jobs, the police and protesters are involved in a potentially dangerous situation. And that's how the game is played, my friends.

Goldman Sachs (and many others) sold bogus mortgage-backed securities to investors, thus imperiling the global economy. And people are understandably angered by it. But unfortunately, others have focused their rage against the protesters instead of directing their angst at more deserving targets e.g. the companies that bundled all those bogus mortgages into sophisticated financial instruments, which they sold to investors WHILE betting against those securities at the same time. The financial legerdemain utilized by the sorcerers on Wall Street incurred this mess. And those necromancers of finance did it with complete impunity. THAT'S why people at the "Occupation" are disgruntled.

Furthermore, if Newt can't understand that too many unemployed people (some of whom are at the protests) can't find work right now, despite the fact that they want to work, that's his problem. There is one job opening for every four unemployed people. So, ultimately, three people won't get in. Oh well.

Once again, they are venting their anger at the wrong entities. The banks/WS follow the laws, rules and regs of CONGRESS. They should be at the Fed, at F&F, which is at the CENTER of the meltdown. They should be at the WH, where sits the largest recipient of WS/banker cash.

People are throwing their support behind Newt without even knowing what he stands for. The guy is a big time globalist who supports amnesty for illegals, nationalized health care and war with Iran. You can't support Newt and call yourself a conservative. There's nothing conservative about him. He's an opportunistic politician willing to say whatever he has to to get into power.

But first, thank Obama for creating all the jobs to be had...because there's plenty of jobs, right Newt?

There have always been service sector and manual labor jobs available. The OWS won't do those menial tasks though, they want freebies from the b@nksterz, yo.
