I'm offended that they're offended. A symbol for their dead bretheren to say we honor your sacrifice, is a wonderful thing. What would they propose in it's place? I'm really getting sick of this crap. This is about respect. If we/you don't believe in an afterlife, what's the point in any of it? This kind of battle destroys the pursuit of virtue within a society. I perceive this effort as anti-American.
The Marines are not a Christian organization. While I applaud their desire to honor their fallen comrades, surely they must know that at least a few of those they are honoring may not have been Christians. What sort of message does it send when the symbol they chose to use is so specific?
Why not a flag or a giant wreath or some other symbol not associated with a particular religion?
And how does anyone state, as bolded above, that freely expressing one's views about this or any other matter is "anti-American?"
Absolutely mind-boggling.
Well, quit insisting the government put up Christian crosses and symbols everywhere and stop discriminating against gays and I think you'll find that the gays and the atheists with stop "crying" about everything.
maybe you should understand the cross isnt just christian
guess you never would understand...heard of the Marine cross???
and the cross is allwed by the government...has for a loooonnggg time
This is the Arlington National Cemetery. Look closely: you’ll see crosses on all the headstones. The government uses a uniform headstone that can be inscribed with any symbol representing the deceased's religious beliefs. Along with a generic cross are symbols for other groups, including Buddhists, Muslims and even atheists.

FYI your information I don't insist on anything. I am not that religious, but I do believe. People are tired of others trying to change things of value that Americans have held dear for centuries. All of a sudden the minorities want to take away everything. The majority in this country are Christians whether you like it or not .
The problem is that it's on public property. If you want to have a cross erected on private property, that's fine. Government and religion should not mix.
Why do the resident Lefties here completely blow it about Separation of Church and State? Nowhere does it state in ANY DOCUMENT that a religious symbol CAN NOT be on public property. NOWHERE does it say this! Where do you people get your info? Oh that's right, indoctrination centers like our public school system. Meanwhile, one of our Founders went to church mass in the capitol building in DC EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY!
And is someone forcing them to look at the cross and pray?
I think I am gonna sue the Synagogue down the street because their sign in Hebrew upsets me.
