These polls that show Americans want to tax the rich and keep every social program do not tell us what is best for America. The Greeks have been polling the same way for years. Is that the way we want to turn out?
This is the progressive plan to buy the poor and middle class. In the end though, guess who will pay. The rich don't have enough wealth to cover the debts we are incurring.

Rik, do you support taxing the rich (and everyone else) to maintain and grow our massive military-industrial-police state complex?

"When the people find they can vote themselves money,
that will herald the end of the republic."

- Benjamin Franklin

We cannot pay for our current levels of spending and a large number of Americans want even more handouts, more programs and more benefits. Taxing the rich will not fix the problem. Spending MUST be cut, but as long as people support politicians that continue the irresponsible policies that got us here, it's only going to get worse.

I support returning to Clinton-era tax rates, but that alone will not come close to fixing the problem.

That's why democracy doesn't work. I thought we had realized this.
