You sound like the Chancellor in the movie V For Vendetta.
I don't support the Patriot Act because it is an egregious attack on the privacy of Americans, and because it gives government the ability to go around the court system. I don't think true freedom can be exercised in a non-private environment. It's one thing to volunteer information about oneself, or even to voluntarily surrender such information. But the Patriot Act simply takes information without the consent of the people. The court system is a primary tool for defense against the government taking such actions, but the Patriot Act enables the government investigative services to go around the courts, and therefore robs the people of an important tool. A government formed by, of and for the people may not be something to fear, but a government bureaucracy run amuck certainly is. The Patriot Act is license for the bureaucrats to run amuck.
Those new body scanners ,dream machines for homosexuals & pedophiles, will eliminate the pat down...
You are confusing Homeland Security with the USAPATRIOT Act. They are not the same. The USAPATRIOT Act has absolutely nothing to do with the TSA or airport security.
Uh-oh, Hell must be freezing over here on CD. Should we have, indeed, found an issue that just about most people agree on, regardless of their political orientation?
For those who think the PA should be expanded, I urge you to look into the powers granted to such wonderful agencies as the East German Staatssicherheit (Stasi) and see if that is really something you would like.
