I was listen to air america earlier today and the topic came up that Joe Lieberman could be considered for Attorney General.
Now hold up for on second. I know that people that live in the immediate area that Sen. Lieberman represents will say: "No way!" "He just got elected to a 6 year term." "Why would he jump?" Well reasoning behind it is, that Lieberman takes the AG job. And a about a year before the end of Pres. Bush's term Dick Cheney decided to leave be cause of "health Problems." and Lieberman gets offered the job of vice pres. and takes it. From there Lieberman could takes a couple of options Which are
1. He just retires and caps off a political career as vice pres.
2. He makes himself very available to become vice pres again under one of republican candidates in 2008.
3. He decides to switch parties and jumps in as a presidential candidate.
Now I no this is all conjecture. But I found it interesting. I'm also interested in how you republicans felt about this possibility?
Despite the democrats stabbing Lieberman in the back, including the other CT senator, Chris Dodd, I just don't think Lieberman would abandon the democratic party. He should, because they showed no loyalty to him, but I don't believe he will.
I don't see him taking the job this late into the administration. He would not be accepted as a full fledged member of the party, and become a marginalized figure. He has more leverage where he is at the moment.
Perhaps in a new republican administration, but not a lame duck.
I personally don't trust Lieberman, but it's not hard for me to imagine him becoming AG under a Democratic administration.
Whether or not Hillary would choose him, though, is unclear. Lieberman, of course, said Bill ought to resign over his conduct in the Lewinsky scandal, and I don't know how Hillary feels about that. On the other hand, the Clintons still have the legacy of Janet Reno to live down, and picking Lieberman for AG would perhaps help do that.
Lieberman will be AG under a Republican administration only if that administration is decidedly neocon in orientation. If Fred Thompson is the GOP's nominee, as I suspect he will be, and if the Republican ticket wins in 2008, he'll probably prefer Giuliani over Lieberman for Attorney General. But it's possible Rudy will be Vice President, in which case Thompson's choice for AG could be someone not yet a household name.

Joe Liberman did not stab anyone in the back. He simply refused to bow down to the left wing.
