Wonder what our drone was doing in Iran? did I miss that we have declared war on their country ?

Quote:
"Iran's military has downed an intruding RQ-170 American drone in eastern Iran," Iran's Arabic-language Al Alam state television network quoted the unnamed source as saying.
"The spy drone, which has been downed with little damage, was seized by the Iranian armed forces."

Let see if there is consistency or hypocrisy in the forum ? If there was a Iran drone in the U S of course you would support it being shot down right? Are we going to war monger Iran for doing the same thing ? HMMMM.

We don't have to declare war anymore. Just say "humanitarian effort" and we can do what we want without Congress. And Congress will just sit there and talk to the press about it and do nothing.

Would that be a stealth dictatorship where one man can call the shots ?

An unnamed source in Iran has you crying on a Sunday morning? Did you ever think that the story might not be true? They could have shot it down in Iraqi airspace. I'm not saying either is true, but the source here has to be taken with a grain of salt.

To boot, countries invade each other's airspace all of the time. The US has also flown spy planes into other countries airspace for about as long as the US has had airplanes.

You might want to read up on the U2 spy plane. Way back in the cold war when one of those was shot down in the USSR and the pilot was captured, he didn't magically go off course.

Incidentally, we haven't "declared war" since WW2.

The source is suspect, but if it is true then somebody needs to handed their walking papers. However, the drone could have been a u.s. Drone that has been sold...errr given to Israel.

Iran military 'downs US drone' - Central & South Asia - Al Jazeera English
It said the drone had been brought down by a virtual attack from Iran's cyberwarfare unit, after taking control of it.

Al Jazeera has been unable to independently verify this information, and there has been no confirmation of the attack from US authorities.

Iran makes claims of taking our drones fairly regularly but never manages to publicly display the evidence, something they would likely do if they could to promote victimization amongst the international community and rally nationalism internally. It would be great air time to be able to show a relatively intact RQ-170 in their possession as that is a very advanced stealth drone and would be an unmistakable image.

I don't doubt we fly RQ-170s into Iran (and Pakistan) as they've been seen in Afghanistan where they don't make sense to deploy to since stealth isn't needed when no enemy radars, it surely has a regional mission that involves flying sorties to Afghanistan's neighbors.

Yes I did see it was a un named source but took into consideration that there has been bombings of Iraq's missile sites. With the media who knows what to believe? but the missile site bombings did have pictures of before and after. So putting 2 and 2 together this story could be true.

It takes nothing away from the premise of my argument that if it is justified for U S to shoot down a Iran plane in U S airspace it should also be acceptable for the Iranians to do the same. You know what is good for the goose .......
