There is a clause in the 1st that prohibits the government from establishing a religion, which any scholar will tell you is freedom from religion.
Maybe if the scholar got their degree from a prize in the bottom of a box of cookies.
People fled Europe because the governments were establishing religions, that all citizens were compelled to adopt and practice as their own. Have you ever heard of the Church of England, or the practices of the Spanish inquisitions established by the king and queen of Spain?
Freedom of religion, is simply the freedom to practice your own religion without worrying about the government coming after you to prosecute you for doing so. Freedom of religion is not 'freedom from religion", where the government abolishes all public displays and references of religion, in order to shield the public "from religion".
This line of thinking of yours, comes from the absurd notion that government is there to protect people from having their sensibilities offended, from any outside source. There is no such thing as a right to not be offended.

Most people aren't asking to be shielded from public displays of religion. Freedom from Religion means being free to not participate in religion, and not have it forced on you. School led prayer, crosses on government property, etc. all fall under "forced religion".
The government has no business endorsing religion. It's a private matter. The fact that Christians are so obsessed with the need to wear their religion on their sleeves not only goes against Jesus' commands in the Bible, but is downright prideful and self-righteous.

Atheism is also a religion. There is NO freedom FROM religion in this country. You are allowed to practice if you choose to or not practice if you choose to.

Nonsense. The point is that a government agency should not be the ones doing the offending.

Atheism is a religion in the same way not collecting stamps is a hobby.

So then they shouldn't be forcing religious symbols being taken down at the request of Atheists. That offends the religious!
