More proof of what i've been saying all along. Republicans don't really believe in any of that claptrap they claim to espouse, although it sure sounds good (well, not really).

From one of the senate's worst senators!!! That's almost funny except that b!**** is as twofaced as anyomne ever in politics! She thinks paying property taxes on her airplane is wrong and still hasn't, but that we should pay more taxes on our cars and homes. Yeah, I know her, both as a politician and a dishonest woman.
That said, no politician should be adding fat to bills with taxpayer money. We can start eliminating the fat with the obscene pay we give to senators. Then we can stop throwing money away on the bailouts she wants and has voted for. Next we can eliminate her next year in the election! She is a self serving disgrace to Missouri that has nothing for us, but alot TO US that was anything but good !!! Funny she fails to mention the earmarks to other countries she has supported being inserted into bills!

Senators don't receive obscene pay. And that's beside the point anyway.

Are these Republicans in the House any different than the people they replaced?

Um, yes, the senators are recieving obscene amount of pay for what they do!!! Plus they never have to live under the laws and messes they create for us. There is not a single member of congress that should be paid more then 80 percent of Americans, yet they are. For LIFE!! iF THEY WERE AT ALL HONEST, THEY WOULD BE IN dc FOR BUDGET BILLS FOR 30 DAYS, THEN GET OUT AND GO BACK HOME TO WORK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. oH, AND THEIR PAY? ABOUT 10K A YEAR SHOULD BE MAX!

OK. I appreciate your sentiments, even though you're wrong.

However, are the new Tea Party House Members any different than the ones they replaced seeing as how they're back to earmarking again? I thought the last election was gonna usher in a new era of "fiscal conservatism."

Any government project is going to be rife with overspending, waste & fraud. It's just a law of nature, because a)they're spending other people's money; b)they're directing money in ways based on politics rather than cost-benefit.

With things like defense, courts, law-enforcement at least the underlying function is something that has to be done by gov't. Under Pelosi and Reid we got wild spending not just on defense but stuff like turtle bridges, co-ed sex life studies, and tax-funded blackberries for people quitting smoking.

AND BTW one of the few guys ever to lead a successful fight to cut defense pork was none other than Dick Armey, Tea Party guy, with his base-closing commission back in the 1990's.

Actualy its called vote trading. as in " yes I will vote in favor of your bill if you add in $1.5 mill to it for school const in my district. And your correct , it should be done away with. If a bill cannot pass on its own merit, then maybe it shouldn't pass.

Suppose that none of the Republicans believe the 'claptrap' that they spout. Every last one is a lying skunk, just as bad as the Democrats they replaced. Where does that leave us then? Do we just throw up our hands at that point? Do we vote back in the Democrats spendthrifts because while they'll waste our money too, at least they won't be hypocrits about it?

DD, your thesis here (continued frm the 'Geoge W Bush liberal' thread from which you guys skedaddled) is not only wrong, even if correct it would be non-constructive and pointless.

Given...the government is an organization that is surprisingly NOT organized. There is plenty of corruption to go around.

So...just imagine what GOVERNMENT RUN HZEALTHCARE is actually going to cost as opposed to the estimated 'savings' that obama was blowing up our A#s#s when he rammed it through congress!!

As for the OP...MacKaskill is a pathetic excuse for a congresswoman. I know some people from Missouri and they hate her. I doubt she'll win re-election.
